Book Description
Can one live without money, relationship and religion. How will life be without anyone of them and what will be the purpose of living if one cannot accumulate wealth, build relations and have a religion to follow, living like equals without being recognized for any achievements. All our life we lived generating wealth, thriving for even more, entwined with relations of our own since birth, developing more through marriage, having children. We remain eye-centric towards elevating our own, ignoring and eliminating those who rightly deserve, who can uplift our life and society. We feel proud of our religion ridiculing others and get agitated violently with a meager deviation, fearing loss of self esteem and wrath of our God. Entrapped at an alien planet astronaut Andrews, Nancy and Ben finds themselves in a planet where people live a life free from wealth, relationship and religion and all necessities are available free of cost just like paradise where anything is available at a beacon and none accumulates wealth nor they need to maintain a relationship, living happily without any worry or anxiety. Yet these three astronauts find life too boring and purposeless, yearning to return back to their planet where recognition and applaud lures.

Recreating Eden
Author: John Mazurk
Publisher: Page Publishing Inc
ISBN: 1645843939
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 135
Book Description
Humanity will achieve immortality in this existence in about three hundred years. That raises the question, what is humankind's immortal purpose in this existence? Is it to create throughout the universe a paradise for our species? If it is, how will people achieve an eternal paradise? That raises the question, what is paradise? According to religious beliefs, the concept of paradise varies. People who do not have religious beliefs have different concepts of what they believe paradise to be. Another question that will be asked is, why would anyone want to live forever in this existence? People of faith will accept that they are only reunited with their creator when they die. Some people will want to spend eternity in a virtual reality, and then there are those that want to spend eternity seeking eternal knowledge by exploring the universe. Paradise is not just a place, it's also a way of living, including interacting with others of like beliefs. It's differences in beliefs that cause differences resulting in challenges of how to settle the universe. Recreating Eden addresses these issues and suggest possible solutions that will need to be addressed when humanity achieves immortality in this existence.

The Library of Paradise
Author: David A. Michelson
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0192573284
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 358
Book Description
Contemplative reading is a spiritual practice developed by Christian monks in sixth- and seventh-century Mesopotamia. Mystics belonging to the Church of the East pursued a form of contemplation which moved from reading, to meditation, to prayer, to the ecstasy of divine vision. The Library of Paradise tells the story of this Syriac tradition in three phases: its establishment as an ascetic practice, the articulation of its theology, and its maturation and spread. The sixth-century monastic reform of Abraham of Kashkar codified the essential place of reading in East Syrian ascetic life. Once established, the practice of contemplative reading received extensive theological commentary. Abraham's successor Babai the Great drew upon the ascetic system of Evagrius of Pontus to explain the relationship of reading to the monk's pursuit of God. Syriac monastic handbooks of the seventh century built on this Evagrian framework. 'Enanisho' of Adiabene composed an anthology called Paradise that would stand for centuries as essential reading matter for Syriac monks. Dadisho' of Qatar wrote a widely copied commentary on the Paradise. Together, these works circulated as a one-volume library which offered readers a door to "Paradise" through contemplation. The Library of Paradise is the first book-length study of East Syrian contemplative reading. It adapts methodological insights from prior scholarship on reading, including studies on Latin lectio divina. By tracing the origins of East Syrian contemplative reading, this study opens the possibility for future investigation into its legacies, including the tradition's long reception history in Sogdian, Arabic, and Ethiopic monastic libraries.

Vegan Paradise; A New Worldview To Save Our Bodies, Minds, and Souls--and Life on Earth
Author: Shakti Marquis
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 0557389364
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 218
Book Description
In this compelling book, C. Shakti Marquis explores not only the latest health research about animal products, but also looks at the latest ethical, environmental, psychological and ecospiritual reasons people are choosing veganism. She relates the philosophical shift in our dietary choices to the larger paradigm shift necessarily underway in our society to deal with the current ethical, economic, psychospiritual and health crises. Psychologically we were designed to want to live in harmony with, and care for, animals (here termed faunaphilia). She shows how our minds, our bodies and our natural food system were logically and beautifully designed to work together to create a lifestlye in which plants, animals, and people live harmoniously. The book discusses this new philosophy, which she terms the Vegan Paradise Paradigm. It also includes questions and activities, vegan deep ecology exercises, starter recipes and information on converting to the vegan lifestyle.

Nature
Author: Peter Coates
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0745676898
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 256
Book Description
'Nature' is a deceptively simple and ahistorical term, suggestingintrinsic, unchanging reality. Yet nature has a history too, bothin terms of human attitudes and human impacts. Coates outlines themajor understandings of 'nature' in the western world sinceclassical times, from nature as higher authority to its more recentmeaning of threatened physical space and life forms. Unlike many others, this book places the history of attitudes tonature within the story of human-induced changes in the materialenvironment. And few others take a supranational perspective, orcross the divides between historical eras. A distinctive unifying theme is Coates's interest in how 'green'writers over the last thirty years have interpreted our pastdealings with nature, specifically their efforts to diagnose theroots of contemporary ecological problems and their search forancestors. He concludes with a discussion of the future of naturein the context of developments such as the 'new' ecology, globalwarming, advances in genetic engineering and research on animalbehaviour. Assuming no previous knowledge, Nature provides the reader with anaccessible synthesis and introduction to some of environmentalhistory's central features and debates, confirming its status asone of the most enthralling current pursuits within historicalstudies. This will be essential reading for second-year undergraduates andabove in cultural history and environmental history, as well as tothe general reader interested in environmental issues.

The Power of Allegiances
Author: Marino Tuzi
Publisher: Guernica Editions
ISBN: 9781550710298
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 204
Book Description
The Power of Allegiances explores contemporary social reality in Canada from a cultural perspective. It proposes that ideas about being Canadian are not culturally neutral. Such ideas are influenced by specific, historical, and cultural traditions that differ from those found in anglophone and francophone communities. By examining the fictional work of several writers of Italian heritage, Marino Tuzi demonstrates that one's cultural and gender identity is a product of conflicting factors, factors which are located in mainstream society and in a given ethnic group. The book shows that this particular representation of Canadian experience by minority writers is conveyed in ways which underline a unique cultural perspective. Marino Tuzi makes use of cultural studies, social history, and the sociology of ethnicity, and literary criticism. This interdisciplinary study of culture and society will be of interest to a variety of readers, from specialists in the fields of cultural studies, literature, and sociology to general readers who are curious about the multicultural nature of contemporary Canadian life.
