The Grand Fort is sufficiently large for one hundred guns, and has I reckon about thirty that would bear on a ship as she rounded the N. E. Point of the island. I was told most of their gun carriages were bad, and for want of shot they had substituted stone ones, which are too soft to be serviceable.
