Late-Stage Fluorination of Bioactive Molecules and Biologically-Relevant Substrates
Author: Al Postigo
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 9780128129586
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
Late-Stage Fluorination of Bioactive Molecules and Biologically-Relevant Substrates reviews how the use of these techniques on compounds with already known and relevant biological activity can provide new pharmaceutical leads with improved medicinal properties. The fluorination strategies discussed take into account both conventional and novel reagents, including nucleophilic, electrophilic, those of a radical nature, and diverse families of organic compounds, such as (hetero) aromatic rings and aliphatic substrates. Drawing on the authors' expert knowledge, this book provides researchers with a broad set of applicable methods to use in their work.

Organic Synthesis in Water
Author: P.A. Grieco
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 940114950X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 321
Book Description
The use of water as a medium for promoting organic reactions has been rather neglected in the development of organic synthesis, despite the fact that it is the solvent in which almost all biochemical processes take place. Chemists have only recently started to appreciate the enormous potential water has to offer in the development of new synthetic reactions and strategies, where it can offer benefits in both unique chemistry and reduced environmental impact. In this new book, the editor, well known for his contribution to the development of water as a useful medium in synthetic organic chemistry, has assembled an international team of authors, themselves at the forefront of research into the use of the unique properties of water carrying out organic transformations, to provide a timely and concise overview of current research. By focusing on the practical use of water in synthetic organic chemistry, and with the concern for the use of solvents in organic chemistry, professional chemists, particularly those involved in industrial research and development, will find this book an essential guide to the current state of the art, and a useful starting point in their own research. Academic chemists, including postgraduate and advanced undergraduate students, will find this book an invaluable guide to this exciting and important area of chemistry.

Isotopic Exchange and the Replacement of Hydrogen in Organic Compounds
Author: A. I. Shatenshtein
Publisher: Springer
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 332
Book Description
Hydrogen replacement reactions play an outstanding part in organic chemistry. They include such industrially important processes as halogenation, nitration, sulfona tion, alkylation, and direct amination and metallation of organic substances. It is no accident that the data obtained in the investigation of these reactions have been used extensivel y in the solution of a series of fundamental problems in theoretical organ ic chemistry and this tendency still exists. Isotopic exchanges of hydrogen also belong to this group of chemical conversions. They have attracted considerable attention as they are the simplest and, to some ex tent, models of hydrogen replacement reactions, which are convenient for elucidating the mechanism of hydrogen replacement and the effects of interaction between atoms in organic molecules. The mechanisms of hydrogen replacement reactions are examined in this mono graph and the most space is allocated to hydrogen isotope exchanges. The mechan isms of all the given reactions are interpreted from the point of view of the acid base properties of the reagents. In this connection, a large section of the book is de voted to a thorough substantiation of the thesis that hydrocarbons participating in the given reactions act as acids or bases. Problems of acid-base catalysis and the mech anism of acid -base interaction are also discussed. Thus, a considerable part of the book is concerned with problems of the theory of acids and bases.

Proceedings of the Fourth International Symposium on Cyclodextrins
Author: J. Szejtli
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9400926375
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 527
Book Description
The rapidly growing number of papers and patents on Cyclodextrins and their potential or actual industrial uses raised the idea to organize a Symposium on Cyclodextrins. This Symposium - held in September 1981 in Budapest, with more than 200 participants from 17 countries - proved to be very succesfull in every respect, therefore it has been accepted unanimously to organize the lInd CD-Symposium in 1984, in Tokyo. (The Budapest-Symposium got posteriorly the "First" adjective). The IInd Symposium was held together with the III. Int. Symposium on Chlatrate Compounds and Molecular Inclusion Phenomena. The IIIrd CD-Symposium also was held as a Joint Symposium, with the IVth. Chlatrate Symposium in Lancaster, U. K. ,1986. The limited time however showed, that such a broad field - from calixarenes to zeolites - can not be managed efficiently. Therefore the International Organizing Committee voted for separation of two Symposia in the future. The IVth Int. CD-Symposium was held in the Munich, in April 1988, and the Vth Chlatrate Symposium (called already Vth Int. Symposium on Inclusion Phenomena and Molecular Recognition) was held in Alabama, Sept. 1988. In Munich 220 participants from 21 countries attended 32 verbal lectures and 54 posters. This volume contains the submitted 71 manuscripts of the IVth Cyclodextrin Symposium.

Sulfur-Containing Reagents
Author: Leo A. Paquette
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118634861
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 1957
Book Description
There are a lot of books available about the chemistry and biology of sulfur. However, this is the first book with a compilation of all relevant Sulfur containing reagents. Synthetic chemists, most particularly in the medicinal and pharmaceutical chemists, are often called upon to prepare compounds that contain Sulfur as a key structural feature. In the past, this seemed to be a domain for specialists; today every synthetic chemist working in these area is expected to synthesize compounds containing sulfides, sulfates, sulfones, etc. This book offers an important source of information for the selection and handling of the right reagents.

ISBN: 9783527628773
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 1257
Book Description
The number-one reference on the topic now contains a wealth of new data: The entire relevant literature over the past six years has been painstakingly surveyed, resulting in hundreds of new descriptors being added to the list, and some 3,000 new references in the bibliography section. Volume 1 contains an alphabetical listing of more than 3300 descriptors and related terms for chemoinformatic analysis of chemical compound properties, while the second volume lists over 6,000 references selected from 450 journals. To make the data even more accessible, the introductory section has been completely re-written and now contains several "walk-through" reading lists of selected keywords for novice users.
