Radiative and Leptonic B-meson Decays from the B-factories

Book Description
Radiative and leptonic decays of B-mesons represent an excellent laboratory for the search for New Physics. I present here recent results on radiative and leptonic decays from the Belle and BABAR collaborations. Radiative penguin and leptonic B-meson decays are excellent probes for investigating the effects of New Physics. Although current measurements are in agreement with the Standard Model expectations, they are still quite useful for setting bounds on possible NP models. The B → X{sub s}[gamma] and B → [tau][nu] measurements, for example, put strong constraints on the mass of charged Higgs bosons in Type II two-Higgs double models. The B → X{sub s}[gamma] branching fraction measurements also constrain models with universal extra dimensions.

Book Description
We present the results of a search for B+ meson decays into [gamma]l+vl, where l = e, [mu]. We use a sample of 232 million B$\bar{B}$ meson pairs recorded at the [Upsilon](4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B factory. We measure a partial branching fraction [Delta][beta] in a restricted region of phase space that reduces the effect of theoretical uncertainties, requiring the lepton energy to be in the range 1.875 and 2.850 GeV, the photon energy to be in the range 0.45 and 2.35 GeV, and the cosine of the angle between the lepton and photon momenta to be less than -0.36, with all quantities computed in the [Upsilon](4S) center-of-mass frame. We find [Delta][beta](B+ 2![gamma]l+vl) = ( -0.31.5+1.3(statistical) -0.6+0.6(systematic) ± 0.1(theoretical)) x 10-6, under the assumption of lepton universality. Interpreted as a 90% confidence-level Bayesian upper limit, the result corresponds to 1.7 x 10-6 for a prior at in amplitude, and 2.3 x 10-6 for a prior at in branching fraction.

K Meson Leptonic Decays

Book Description
Progress in Nuclear Physics, Volume 12, Part 1: K Meson Leptonic Decay: The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon and Related Topics focuses on K Meson leptonic decay. The volume first discusses K Meson leptonic decay, including weak hadronic current, polarization of the muon, form of coupling, rate of partial decay, and density function of the Dalitz plot. The text then takes a look at the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon and other topics. The theory of the anomalous magnetic moment of electrons and muon and clock paradox, including muon and special relativity and lifetime of the muon in flight, are underscored. Experiments on the CERN muon storage ring and g-2 measurements are also explained. Numerical calculations and table representations showing the leptonic decay are then presented. The book is a dependable source of data for readers interested in the study of K Meson leptonic decay.

Radiative Decays, Nonet Symmetry and SU(3) Breaking

Book Description
We re-examine the problem of simultaneously describing in a consistent way all radiative and leptonic decays of light mesons (V[yields] P[gamma], P[yields] V[gamma], P[yields][gamma][gamma], V[yields] e[sup+]e[sup -]). For this purpose, we rely on the Hidden Local Symmetry model in both its anomalous and non-anomalous sectors. We show that the SU(3) symmetry breaking scheme proposed by Bando, Kugo and Yamawaki, supplemented with nonet symmetry breaking in the pseudoscalar sector, allows one to reach a nice agreement with all data, except for the K*[sup[+-]] radiative decay. An extension of this breaking pattern allows one to account for this particular decay mode too. Considered together, the whole set of radiative decays provides a pseudoscalar mixing angle[theta][sub P][approx-equal] and a value for[theta][sub V] which is[approx-equal] 3[sup o] from that of ideal mixing. We also show that it is impossible, in a practical sense, to disentangle the effects of nonet symmetry breaking and those of glue inside the[eta][prime], using only light meson decays.

16th Conference on Flavor Physics and CP Violation

16th Conference on Flavor Physics and CP Violation PDF Author: Anjan Giri
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030296229
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 493

Book Description
Presenting the proceedings of FPCP 2018, this book reviews the status quo of flavor physics and discusses the latest findings in this exciting area. Flavor physics has been instrumental in the formulation and understanding of the standard model, and it is possible that the direction of new physics will be significantly influenced by flavor sector, also known as the intensity frontier, making it possible to indirectly test the existence of new physics up to a very high scale, beyond that of the energy frontier scale accessible at the LHC. The book is intended for academics around the globe involved in particle physics research, professionals associated with the related technologies and those who are interested in learning about the future of physics and its prospects and directions.

Book Description
Radiative decays of the B meson, B 2!X{sub s}[gamma], proceed via virtual flavor changing neutral current processes that are sensitive to contributions from high mass scales, either within the Standard Model of electroweak interactions or beyond. In the Standard Model, these transitions are sensitive to the weak interactions of the top quark, and relatively robust predictions of the inclusive decay rate exist. Significant deviation from these predictions could be interpreted as indications for processes not included in the minimal Standard Model, like interactions of charged Higgs or SUSY particles. The analysis of the inclusive photon spectrum from B 2!X{sub s}[gamma] decays is rather challenging due to high backgrounds from photons emitted in the decay of mesons in B decays as well as ee− annihilation to low mass quark and lepton pairs. Based on 88.5 million B{bar B} events collected by the BABAR detector, the photon spectrum above 1.9 GeV is presented. By comparison of the first and second moments of the photon spectrum with QCD predictions (calculated in the kinetic scheme), QCD parameters describing the bound state of the b quark in the B meson are extracted: m{sub b} = (4.45 ± 0.16) GeV/c2; [mu]{sub {pi}}2 = (0.65 ± 0.29) GeV2. These parameters are useful input to non-perturbative QCD corrections to the semileptonic B decay rate and the determination of the CKM parameter.

Book Description
The author presents measurements of radiative B meson decays to the final states Ks0[pi]0[gamma] and K[Phi][gamma] based on data collected at the [Upsilon](4S) resonance with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- collider at SLAC. In a data sample of 467 million B$\bar{B}$ pairs, the time-dependent CP asymmetry in B0 2!Ks0[pi]0[gamma] decays is measured in two regions of Ks0-[pi]0 invariant mass. In the K* region, 0.8
