Our days are busy and our lives are filled with an endless barrage of 'must's,' 'should's,' and 'have to's.' While our hearts long for a mere moment of beauty, peace, and rest, we often wonder if there is truly a place to find green pastures and quiet waters. In the third book of his Wisdom Trilogy, Pastor Ray Pritchard takes us far away from the clamor of the everyday, not by removing us from our situations, but by putting them in the proper context of God's Word. Spend a few moments meditating on the Word of God in Green Pastures, Quiet Waters. In these 100 daily readings from the Psalms, Pastor Pritchard skillfully weaves entertaining stories and words of great thinkers with the inerrant Word of God. Each reading includes a key verse, a meditation on that verse, a prayer of response, and three meditation questions.God promises peace and rest to those who seek Him and trust Him for the outcome of their situations. Book Description
Why has it taken me so long to let go of my search for complete loving and fulfillment from others? It is because it has taken me this long in my search to find the self-acceptance of my own failure at being completely loving. That grace comes only by looking for it from my Maker-Redeemer alone.Dee Penick has had a difficult life. The victim of sexual molestation, she struggled to find her worth and overcame self-loathing through the grace of God. Now, through this touching memoir, she shares her struggles and lessons learned through Scripture and intimate conversations—as if you were a close friend sitting at her kitchen table. Through sampling a few of the fruits of the spirit—love, joy, and peace—you can realize you are a person of meaning, value, and purpose. Take your life from the turbulence of insecurity to the refreshing calm of Quiet Waters. 'Quiet Waters is filled with wonderful testimonies of how God led a victim of sexual molestation into spiritual healing and wholeness.' -Patsy Oda, author of Heart's Desire

Flowing Bridges, Quiet Waters

Flowing Bridges, Quiet Waters PDF Author: David K. Reynolds
Publisher: State University of New York Press
ISBN: 1438417144
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 204

Book Description
This book is the first to discuss experiences of the Morita and Naikan ways of life in the Western World. Although Morita and Naikan are therapies—perspectives on neurotic habits and their correction—the vision is educational rather than medical. The approach offers a way of acknowledging feelings while engaging in constructive living. With roots in Zen, the principles of this constructive living were formulated over 80 years ago by Shoma Morita, a Japanese psychiatrist. Like Zen, these principles are thoroughly grounded in the reality of the here and now. Morita's methods are aimed at the person who suffers from anxiety, shyness, phobias, and obsessions that often manifest in physical symptoms such as headaches, insomnia, stomach disorders, and heart palpitations. However the techniques are available and beneficial to people at widely different stages of self-development, not just to those whose lives are plagued by neurotic suffering. Reynolds offers a look at the adaptations necessary to transform and transport these Japanese methods into techniques useful to Westerners. Cultural-psychological insights are presented by the author who is both an anthropologist and clinician. Flowing Bridges offers a unique case study of directed change of a psychotherapeutic system. What is Eastern, what is Western, and what is commonly human becomes more clear from this example of importation of Japanese ideas into the West. For psychotherapists, there are extensive accounts of hands-on treatment methods. For those interested in adding these very effective techniques, the first-person accounts of a variety of contributors will be helpful.
