AdS/CFT, (Super-)Virasoro, Affine (Super-)Algebras

AdS/CFT, (Super-)Virasoro, Affine (Super-)Algebras PDF Author: Vladimir K. Dobrev
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG
ISBN: 3110611406
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 246

Book Description
The De Gruyter Studies in Mathematical Physics are devoted to the publication of monographs and high-level texts in mathematical physics. They cover topics and methods in fields of current interest, with an emphasis on didactical presentation. The series will enable readers to understand, apply and develop further, with sufficient rigor, mathematical methods to given problems in physics. For this reason, works with a few authors are preferred over edited volumes. The works in this series are aimed at advanced students and researchers in mathematical and theoretical physics. They can also serve as secondary reading for lectures and seminars at advanced levels.

The Universal Coefficient Theorem and Quantum Field Theory

The Universal Coefficient Theorem and Quantum Field Theory PDF Author: Andrei-Tudor Patrascu
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319461435
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 279

Book Description
This thesis describes a new connection between algebraic geometry, topology, number theory and quantum field theory. It offers a pedagogical introduction to algebraic topology, allowing readers to rapidly develop basic skills, and it also presents original ideas to inspire new research in the quest for dualities. Its ambitious goal is to construct a method based on the universal coefficient theorem for identifying new dualities connecting different domains of quantum field theory. This thesis opens a new area of research in the domain of non-perturbative physics—one in which the use of different coefficient structures in (co)homology may lead to previously unknown connections between different regimes of quantum field theories. The origin of dualities is an issue in fundamental physics that continues to puzzle the research community with unexpected results like the AdS/CFT duality or the ER-EPR conjecture. This thesis analyzes these observations from a novel and original point of view, mainly based on a fundamental connection between number theory and topology. Beyond its scientific qualities, it also offers a pedagogical introduction to advanced mathematics and its connection with physics. This makes it a valuable resource for students in mathematical physics and researchers wanting to gain insights into (co)homology theories with coefficients or the way in which Grothendieck's work may be connected with physics.

Crossing the Boundaries

Crossing the Boundaries PDF Author: Marco M. Peloso
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814304026
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 565

Book Description
"This volume contains the proceedings of the workshop "Crossing the Boundaries: Gauge Dynamics at Strong Coupling", hosted by the William I. Fine Theoretical Physics Institute at the University of Minnesota, May 14 - 17, 2009. The workshop honored the 60th birthday of Professor Misha Shifman and his outstanding achievements in the field of gauge dynamics. The meeting attracted a fascinating group of researchers working on the cutting edge of dynamics of gauge theories, including supersymmetric and stringtheories. Their talks covered a wide area of recent developments in the field."--Publisher's website.

Spinning Strings and Correlation Functions in the AdS/CFT Correspondence

Spinning Strings and Correlation Functions in the AdS/CFT Correspondence PDF Author: Juan Miguel Nieto
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319960202
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 188

Book Description
This book addresses several aspects of the integrable structure of the AdS/CFT correspondence. In particular it presents computations made on both sides of the AdS/CFT correspondence, at weak and at strong coupling. On the string theory side of the correspondence, the book focuses on the evaluation of the energy spectrum of closed string solutions moving in some deformed backgrounds that preserve integrability. On the gauge theory side, it explores various formal problems arising in the computation of two and three-point functions by means of the Algebraic Bethe Ansatz and the Quantum Inverse Scattering method. The book features numerous results on integrability in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence. Self-contained and pedagogical, it includes general discussions and detailed presentations on the use of integrable systems techniques and their applications.

ADS/CFT CORRESPONDENCE

ADS/CFT CORRESPONDENCE PDF Author: Olivier Biquard
Publisher:
ISBN: 9783037195130
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 259

Book Description
Since its discovery in 1997 by Maldacena, AdS/CFT correspondence has become one of the prime subjects of interest in string theory, as well as one of the main meeting points between theoretical physics and mathematics. On the physical side it provides a duality between a theory of quantum gravity and a field theory. The mathematical counterpart is the relation between Einstein metrics and their conformal boundaries. The correspondence has been intensively studied, and a lot of progress emerged from the confrontation of viewpoints between mathematics and physics. Written by leading experts and directed at research mathematicians and theoretical physicists as well as graduate students, this volume gives an overview of this important area both in theoretical physics and in mathematics. It contains survey articles giving a broad overview of the subject and of the main questions, as well as more specialized articles providing new insight both on the Riemannian side and on the Lorentzian side of the theory.

New Trends In Quantum Integrable Systems - Proceedings Of The Infinite Analysis 09

New Trends In Quantum Integrable Systems - Proceedings Of The Infinite Analysis 09 PDF Author: Boris Feigin
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814462926
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 517

Book Description
The present volume is the result of the international workshop on New Trends in Quantum Integrable Systems that was held in Kyoto, Japan, from 27 to 31 July 2009. As a continuation of the RIMS Research Project “Method of Algebraic Analysis in Integrable Systems” in 2004, the workshop's aim was to cover exciting new developments that have emerged during the recent years.Collected here are research articles based on the talks presented at the workshop, including the latest results obtained thereafter. The subjects discussed range across diverse areas such as correlation functions of solvable models, integrable models in quantum field theory, conformal field theory, mathematical aspects of Bethe ansatz, special functions and integrable differential/difference equations, representation theory of infinite dimensional algebras, integrable models and combinatorics.Through these topics, the reader can learn about the most recent developments in the field of quantum integrable systems and related areas of mathematical physics.

Geometric, Algebraic and Topological Methods for Quantum Field Theory

Geometric, Algebraic and Topological Methods for Quantum Field Theory PDF Author: Sylvie Payche
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814460052
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 378

Book Description
Based on lectures held at the 7th Villa de Leyva summer school, this book presents an introduction to topics of current interest in the interface of geometry, topology and physics. It is aimed at graduate students in physics or mathematics with interests in geometric, algebraic as well as topological methods and their applications to quantum field theory. This volume contains the written notes corresponding to lectures given by experts in the field. They cover current topics of research in a way that is suitable for graduate students of mathematics or physics interested in the recent developments and interactions between geometry, topology and physics. The book also contains contributions by younger participants, displaying the ample range of topics treated in the school. A key feature of the present volume is the provision of a pedagogical presentation of rather advanced topics, in a way which is suitable for both mathematicians and physicists.
