Hardwood round wood output rose cords above the 1983 round hardwood record, while output from hardwood mill residue surpassed the 1981 record for hardwood residue by cords. Harvests of aspen, hard maple, and soft maple climbed to record levels. As pen exceeded the 1983 peak by cords, hard maple outstripped the 1980 high by cords, and soft maple beat the 1979 high by cords. Softwood production rose cords from 1983, although production from mill residue dropped cords.
