Hon. Justice Jumoke Pedro attended the University of Lagos, Nigeria, where she passed out with a second-class upper degree in law in 1980. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in July 1981 to practice as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court. After her NYSC service with the military police in 1982, she practiced briefly with the law firm of Akin Olugbade and Co. for two years. In 1984, she joined the Lagos State Judiciary as a magistrate and rose through the bench to become a chief magistrate. She was later appointed as registrar of titles at the Land Registry of Lagos. In 1999, she was appointed the chief registrar of the High Court of Lagos. She was appointed a judge of the High Court of Lagos in the year 2001. Her lordship is a Christian and is married to Olufemi Pedro, a former deputy governor of Lagos state, and they are blessed with four children. Her lordship is a deaconess and a chancellor. She is a member of the CIARB England and a certified mediator. She is also a member of Olave Baden Powell Society and National Association of Women Judges in Nigeria.

Phenolphthalein (PH) was commonly used as a laxative for most of the 20th cent. The use of PH in laxatives has decreased since 1997 when the FDA proposed to withdraw its classification as an OTC drug. PH has been previously evaluated in carcinogenecity studies in 1996. The major route of human exposure to PH is via ingestion, dermal contact, & inhalation of contaminated air originating from process units manufacturing the compound. In this study, the carcinogenic effects of PH were studied in the haploinsufficient p16Ink4a/p19Arf mouse model as an ongoing goal to seek model systems for toxicology & carcinogenesis studies, especially those that can provide mechanistic info. relative to understanding an agent¿s model of action. Calif¿s. info. tech. (IT) industry is both the state¿s leading manufacturing sector & its leading export sector. Exports from this sector grew rapidly between 1997 & 2000 but then declined for both the state & the U.S. through 2003 -- in Calif¿s. case, a decline of $25 billion, or 42%, from the 2000 peak. This report documents the changing pattern of Calif¿s. manufactured IT exports during the recent boom & bust period. Much of the drop between 2000 & 2003 stemmed from lower purchases of Calif. commodities worldwide, but declining prices for commodities exported from Calif. also contributed.
