Therapy and Prevention of Atopic Dermatitis and Psoriasis
Author: Masutaka Furue
Publisher: MDPI
ISBN: 3039365371
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 274
Book Description
Atopic dermatitis and psoriasis are common inflammatory skin diseases. The excellent therapeutic success of anti-IL-4/IL-13 biologics for atopic dermatitis and anti-TNF-α/IL-23/IL-17A biologics for psoriasis highlights the major pathogenic roles of these cytokines in the respective diseases. Although atopic dermatitis and psoriasis are distinct clinical entities, they share similar inflammatory processes, including increased Th17, Th22, and Th1 signatures. In addition to skin inflammation, both skin diseases exhibit a significant association with systemic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, and autoimmune diseases. In contrast to atopic dermatitis, males are more susceptible to psoriasis than females. Differential risk factors may be involved in the development and exacerbation in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. In this issue, we will publish cutting-edge information regarding skin inflammation, clinical aspects, risk factors, microbiome, and therapeutics related to psoriatic and atopic inflammation.

Book Description
By virtue of the dynamic nature of the scientific process, the description of the type, pathogenesis and treatment of a disease is always a work in progress. The complex nature of any disease can similarly be unveiled through understanding the historical context of our current understanding, examining prevailing hypotheses, and extrapolating horizons for new research. For better development of this book, the main objective was to provide insights on the types, causes, and treatments of psoriasis. This approach might substantially improve the transference of disease knowledge for physicians and intended to improve quality of medical services that endorses training of excellence and assesses the quali?cations of physicians, most of whom will be naive to clinical dermatological practices.

Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 547
Book Description
This book summarises the key clinical features and their treatment across a range of skin diseases and describes the decision-making process when referring patients to specialists. Treatment of Skin Diseases: A Practical Guide principally aids primary care physicians, trainee dermatologists and dermatology nurse practitioners, but it is also a convenient management guide for allied health professionals, students and hospital-based physicians. A concise atlas of diagnostic photographs is included and incorporated with a simple set of common differentials to provide a useful reference for primary care readers and those training in dermatology. The book also contains information on the management of common skin problems, together providing a comprehensive introduction to the treatment of skin diseases. The treatment options for secondary and tertiary care are also included to provide a thorough picture of the spectrum of dermatologic therapeutics.
