An Introduction to Knowledge Graphs

An Introduction to Knowledge Graphs PDF Author: UMUTCAN. FENSEL SERLES (DIETER.)
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031452569
Category : Electronic books
Languages : en
Pages : 440

Book Description
This textbook introduces the theoretical foundations of technologies essential for knowledge graphs. It also covers practical examples, applications and tools. Knowledge graphs are the most recent answer to the challenge of providing explicit knowledge about entities and their relationships by potentially integrating billions of facts from heterogeneous sources. The book is structured in four parts. For a start, Part I lays down the overall context of knowledge graph technology. Part II “Knowledge Representation” then provides a deep understanding of semantics as the technical core of knowledge graph technology. Semantics is covered from different perspectives, such as conceptual, epistemological and logical. Next, Part III “Knowledge Modelling” focuses on the building process of knowledge graphs. The book focuses on the phases of knowledge generation, knowledge hosting, knowledge assessment, knowledge cleaning, knowledge enrichment, and knowledge deployment to cover a complete life cycle for this process. Finally, Part IV (simply called “Applications”) presents various application areas in detail with concrete application examples as well as an outlook on additional trends that will emphasize the need for knowledge graphs even stronger. This textbook is intended for graduate courses covering knowledge graphs. Besides students in knowledge graph, Semantic Web, database, or information retrieval classes, also advanced software developers for Web applications or tools for Web data management will learn about the foundations and appropriate methods.

New Advances in Building Information Modeling and Engineering Management

New Advances in Building Information Modeling and Engineering Management PDF Author: María de las Nieves González García
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031302478
Category : Social Science
Languages : en
Pages : 232

Book Description
This book explores the latest advances in the field of building management. Several chapters use new technologies such as the BIM methodology for collecting life cycle information and managing the maintenance of existing buildings, sharing valid historical and architectural heritage data, energy analysis of building envelopes, and planning new buildings or sustainable building practices. In addition, other tools are presented that focus on improving access to BIM information, open-source governance, mobile applications to accelerate information transfer, the use of blockchain, lean design methods, and open-source software to solve critical path problems. Some contributions feature the assessment of occupational risks in construction, as it is necessary to plan preventive measures based on risk assessments integrated throughout the construction process, which is another important element for the management of this sector.

Conceptual Graphs and Fuzzy Logic

Conceptual Graphs and Fuzzy Logic PDF Author: Tru Hoang Cao
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3642140874
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 208

Book Description
In this volume, first we formulate a framework of fuzzy types to represent both partial truth and uncertainty about concept and relation types in conceptual graphs. Like fuzzy attribute values, fuzzy types also form a lattice laying a common ground for lattice-based computation of fuzzy granules. Second, for automated reasoning with fuzzy conceptual graphs, we develop foundations of order-sorted fuzzy set logic programming, extending the theory of annotated logic programs of Kifer and Subrahmanian (1992). Third, we show some recent applications of fuzzy conceptual graphs to modelling and computing with generally quantified statements, approximate knowledge retrieval, and natural language query understanding.
