PAD #13

PAD #13 PDF Author: Marina Parente
Publisher: LetteraVentidue Edizioni
ISBN:
Category : Art
Languages : en
Pages : 315

Book Description
The issue, edited by Marina Parente and Carla Sedini, founder of D4T - Design for Territories Research Network of Politecnico di Milano, aims to contribute to this new field of study helping readers understand the design-led phenomenon, which involves the tangible resources of a territory (like monumental and landscape heritage) as well as the intangible ones (like cultural identity and people values). The main topic of this issue is: How could the design develop the local dimension enhancing and revitalizing the territory at the same time? Furthermore, with issue #13 we are opening a series with artists’ images that will match the articles with a visual research connected to the proposed subject. Photographer Carla Sedini, co-editor with Marina Parente of this issue, gave us permission to publish a selection of images about “design that is not there”, “design that may be” and “tacit design” within urban territories around the world. We hope that many creatives will interpret the “Suggestions for Design” launched here. The numerous contributors to this issue are: Miriam Bicocca; Letizia Bollini; Marco Borsotti & Sonia Pistidda; Raffaella Fagnoni & Silvia Pericu; Davide Fassi, Laura Galluzzo & Anna Linda De Rosa; Rosanna Gaddi; Helena Gentili & Daria Casciani; José Luis González Cabrero, Ana Margarita Avila Ochoa, Ana Calvera, Debora Giorgi, Yosser Halloul, Insaf Khaled & Rosa Povedano; Maria Antonietta Sbordone; Reham Mohsen & Andreas Sicklinger; Carla Sedini & Luca Fois.

Ethics in Public Service Interpreting

Ethics in Public Service Interpreting PDF Author: Mary Phelan
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1317502841
Category : Language Arts & Disciplines
Languages : en
Pages : 319

Book Description
This is the first book to focus solely on ethics in public service interpreting. Four leading researchers from across Europe share their expertise on ethics, the theory behind ethics, types of ethics, codes of ethics, and what it means to be a public service interpreter. This volume is highly innovative in that it provides the reader with not only a theoretical basis to explain why underlying ethical dilemmas are so common in the field, but it also offers guidelines that are explained and discussed at length and illustrated with examples. Divided into three Parts, this ground-breaking text offers a comprehensive discussion of issues surrounding Public Service Interpreting. Part 1 centres on ethical theories, Part 2 compares and contrasts codes of ethics and includes real-life examples related to ethics, and Part 3 discusses the link between ethics, professional development, and trust. Ethics in Public Service Interpreting serves as both an explanatory and informative core text for students and as a guide or reference book for interpreter trainees as well as for professional interpreters - and for professionals who need an interpreter's assistance in their own work.

Interdisciplinarity in Entrepreneurship

Interdisciplinarity in Entrepreneurship PDF Author: Diego Matricano
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031279751
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 224

Book Description
In response to the increasing move by scholars to reference other fields of knowledge in the advancement of entrepreneurship studies, this book offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of entrepreneurship. The author investigates five main issues about entrepreneurial processes:the origin of entrepreneurship, the purpose to achieve, the way decisions are made, the creation of entrepreneurial networks and ecosystems. Respectively, these issues are analysed from new perspectives related to other disciplines, such as mythology, philosophy, mathematics, chemistry, and biology. In this way, the book investigates pervading questions about entrepreneurial processes that are still unsolved. By adopting this novel interdisciplinary approach, the book opens up new avenues of research in entrepreneurship studies.

Politics and Finance in the European Union

Politics and Finance in the European Union PDF Author: Francesco Capriglione
Publisher: CEDAM
ISBN: 8813360770
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 329

Book Description
The recent financial and sovereign debt crisis, while turning the spotlight into the degenerating effects of modern-day capitalism, has engendered a series of hard-to-control events that are severely testing the stability of the European institutions. The adjustments, to date, have proved unable to adequately tackle the financial turmoil that is undermining the construction of the EU. Hence the need to identify the reasons behind this situation, which is accompanied by the failure to achieve an osmosis between the member countries of the Union. The objective to be pursued is clarifying the uncertainties and contradictions within Europe, for the purpose of addressing what many see as a “systemic crisis”.

Consensus Building Versus Irreconcilable Conflicts

Consensus Building Versus Irreconcilable Conflicts PDF Author: Emanuela Saporito
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319308297
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 118

Book Description
This book aims to identify ways of overcoming the limitations of the communicative tradition in understanding participatory spatial planning. Three conceptual models that offer different perspectives on public and civic participation in complex urban planning processes are presented and reviewed: the consensual model, which conceives of planning as a collective decision-making practice geared toward consensus building and conflict resolution; the conflictual model, which views planning as a social mobilization practice addressed at empowerment of marginalized groups; and the trading zone model, which reframes collaborative planning as a coordination activity with respect to practical proposals in the presence of unstable and conflicting rationalities and values. The controversial story of the Integrated Intervention Program “PII Isola Lunetta” in Milan is examined through the interpretative lenses of these models, with detailed interpretation of how each model performs in the field. The book concludes by offering critical reflections on the reframing of participatory spatial planning, highlighting the value of trading zones/trading languages and boundary objects as tools for understanding and addressing collaborative practices in complex and conflictual urban planning processes.
