The risk of cancer for this site is expected to decline in the short-term and thus the growth in the expected cancer count is attributed to the growth and aging of the population. [...] The change in the expected number of deaths in the short-term is expected to be driven by population aging (expected to increase the number of deaths by 8%) and growth (expected to increase the number of deaths by 4%); the projected trend in the risk of cancer death here would be expected to decrease the number of prostate cancer deaths over the projection period by 9%. [...] The main driver of the expected increase in the number of deaths over this period is expected to be population aging (expected to increase the number of cancer deaths by 51%); population growth is also expected to increase the number of cancer deaths over this period (expected increase of 27% due to population growth). [...] The model again assumes no change in the mortality risk over the projection period and thus the increase in the number of cancer deaths (from an expected 201 in year 2010 to a projected 381 deaths in year 2030) is again attributed to changes in the BC male population over this period. [...] The projected change in the risk of death for this type of cancer would be expected to decrease the number of deaths in the long-term (by 19%) however, population growth and aging are expected to overshadow the decline in risk and result in a net increase in the number of deaths.
