Al ser la educación comprendida como una concienciación cultural y conductual, y dentro de estos ámbitos hay muchos factores que se conjugan en el proceso de aprendizaje de un alumno/a. Es por esto que esta investigación, tuvo como objetivo general fortalecer la autoestima de los/as alumnos/as de séptimo y octavo año básico en riesgo de deserción escolar perteneciente a un colegio vulnerable de la ciudad de Los Ángeles. Como estrategia metodológica se optó por un diseño de investigación\U+2013\acción con un enfoque cualitativo. Este tipo de investigación hace referencia a una amplia gama de estrategias para mejorar el sistema educativo y social, que serán descritas en la recolección de datos, según las diferentes fases que tiene este diseño: diagnóstico, plan de acción, acción y reflexión o evaluación. Se trabajó con una muestra de carácter intencionada que incluyó a los/as alumnos/as, profesores y director de un establecimiento vulnerable particular subvencionado de la comuna de Los Ángeles. Para la fase de diagnóstico se aplicó el Test de Autoestima de Coopersmith a los/as estudiantes y en relación a estos resultados, se diseñó un plan de acción que se trabajó bajo la modalidad de talleres participativos con dinámicas grupales. Los principales resultados dan cuenta de la necesidad de fortalecer la autoestima en adolescentes por la fuerte relación que existe con la deserción escolar y al mismo tiempo, el estudio da cuenta de la importancia de contar con estrategias metodológicas que las educadoras diferenciales puedan desarrollar en contextos de vulnerabilidad y exclusión social.
