Before the session closed Mr. Wilcox, of the Young Men's Era, said a few words in behalf of that paper, and was seconded heartily by Mr. Brown and Mr. Weidensall. Mr. Hansel spoke in behalf of the educational work of the west. The excellent equipment of the Chicago Training School, and the valuable work done at the summer sessions of the Western Secretarial Institute at Lake Geneva were briefly described. The last business of the morning was the receiving of invitations for the next State Convention. Springfield and the University of Illinois at Champaign earnestly solicited the privilege of entertaining the Convention next year. SATURDAY AFTERNOON. The session was held at the skating rink. First annual state athletic contest. Prayer was offered by Mr. Beatty, and all joined in singing "We're Marching to Zion." Mr. J. E. Sutherland, of Joliet, made the address of the occasion, explaining the " State Athletic Contest" idea. Mr. Ehler explained the pentathlon and the method of scoring.
