Book Description
LES MARCHES ENERGETIQUES SONT CARACTERISES PAR UN FONCTIONNEMENT TRES ELOIGNE DE LA CONCURRENCE PURE ET PARFAITE DANS LAQUELLE LE PRIX D'UN BIEN EST DETERMINE PAR L'EQUILIBRE DE L'OFFRE ET DEMANDE. LES CHAP1 ET 2 DE LA PREMIERE PARTIE ONT JUSTIFIE CE RAISONNEMENT ET LE CHAP 3 SUIVANT LES PRIX RELATIFS ENTRE ENERGIES PAR UNE METHODE D'ANALYSE DYNAMIQUE DE L'ELASTICITE, EN UTILISANT LES MODELES ECONOMETRIQUES. EN EFFET, CE LIEN DIRECT ENTRE LES PRIX DE L'ENERGIE EST LIMITE PAR LA CONCURRENCE ENTRE ENERGIES, AFFECTEES LARGEMENT PAR LA COMPARAISON ECONOMIQUE CHEZ LE CONSOMMATEUR ET PAR LES POLITIQUES DES POUVOIRS PUBLICS RELATIVES A LA PLANIFICATION DE L'ENERGIE UN DES ELEMENTS IMPORTANT EN CONSIDERATION CETTE CONCURRENCE EST L'IMPACT DES PROBLEMES D'ENVIRONNEMENT SUR LES CHOIX D'ENERGIE. DE CE FAIT, NOUS AVONS ANALYSE LE POIDS DE L'ENVIRONNEMENT DANS L'ELABORATION DES POLITIQUES ENERGETIQUES. CECI EST MONTRE DANS LA SDEUXIEME PARTIE. LA QUESTION RELATIVE A L'ENVIRONNEMENT PEUT ENFIN TROUVER UNE REPONSE PAR LES MESURES ANTI-POLLUTION (EVENTUELLEMENT, LE DEVELOPPEMENT DE TECHNOLOGIES). NOUS LES AVONS TRAITES DANS LA TROISIEME PARTIE. EN SYNTHETISANT LES ANALYSES OBTENUES JUSQU'A MAINTENANT, NOUS AVONS PREVU LES PRIX DE L'ENERGIE A L'HORIZON 2010 DANS LA QUATRIEME PARTIE. NOUS AVONS TRAITE, DANS LE PREMIER CHAPITRE, L'EVOLUTION DES PRIX DE L'ENERGIE DANS LE FUTUR SUR LE MARCHE MONDIAL. LA COMPARAISON ECONOMIQUE DANS LA PRODUCTION D'ELECTRICITE A PARTIR DES DIFFERENTES SOURCES D'ENERGIE EST PRESENTEE DANS LE DEUXIEME CHAPITRE.

The Effects of Financial Crises on the Binding Force of Contracts - Renegotiation, Rescission or Revision

The Effects of Financial Crises on the Binding Force of Contracts - Renegotiation, Rescission or Revision PDF Author: Başak Başoğlu
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 331927256X
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 340

Book Description
This book is about one of the most controversial dilemmas of contract law: whether or not the unexpected change of circumstances due to the effects of financial crises may under certain conditions be taken into account. Growing interconnectedness of global economies facilitates the spread of the effects of the financial crises. Financial crises cause severe difficulties for persons to fulfill their contractual obligations. During the financial crises, performance of contractual obligations may become excessively onerous or may cause an excessive loss for one of the contracting parties and consequently destroy the contractual equilibrium and legitimate the governmental interventions. Uncomfortable economic climate leads to one of the most controversial dilemmas of the contract law: whether the binding force of the contract is absolute or not. In other words, unstable economic circumstances impose the need to devote special attention to review and perhaps to narrow the binding nature of a contract. Principle of good faith and fair dealing motivate a variety of theoretical bases in order to overcome the legal consequences of financial crises. In this book, all these theoretical bases are analyzed with special focus on the available remedies, namely renegotiation, rescission or revision and the circumstances which enables the revocation of these remedies. The book collects the 19 national reports and the general report originally presented in the session regarding the Effects of Financial Crises on the Binding Force of Contracts: Renegotiation, Rescission or Revision during the XIXth congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law, held in Vienna, July 2014.

On Borrowed Time

On Borrowed Time PDF Author: John E. Tilton
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1136528024
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 167

Book Description
The sharp rise in mineral use has revived concern about scarcity. Economist John Tilton responds by analyzing recent trends in the consumption and availability of minerals that are most integral to the needs of modern civilization. He reminds readers that, if the arguments about scarcity sound familiar, it is because the story of minerals scarcity is almost as old as human history-and so too is substitution and technological innovation. The issue at hand is the unprecedented acceleration in exploitation and use. Given global population growth, rising living standards, and environmental concerns, how seriously should today‘s society take the threat of mineral exhaustion? On Borrowed Time? provides general interest and student readers with an accessible framework for understanding scarcity. Tilton defines important concepts and explores the methods used to study mineral scarcity, including physical measures of known reserves and the total resource base, and economic measures, such as extraction and end-user costs. He notes the increasing emphasis on the social and environmental costs of mineral production and use, placing the scarcity debate in context of broader concerns about sustainability and equity. He adds a history of thought about scarcity, from Malthus and Ricardo to Harold Hotelling, Donella Meadows, to the present day.

Decarbonizing Development

Decarbonizing Development PDF Author: Marianne Fay
Publisher: World Bank Publications
ISBN: 1464806063
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 185

Book Description
The science is unequivocal: stabilizing climate change implies bringing net carbon emissions to zero. This must be done by 2100 if we are to keep climate change anywhere near the 2oC warming that world leaders have set as the maximum acceptable limit. Decarbonizing Development: Three Steps to a Zero-Carbon Future looks at what it would take to decarbonize the world economy by 2100 in a way that is compatible with countries' broader development goals. Here is what needs to be done: -Act early with an eye on the end-goal. To best achieve a given reduction in emissions in 2030 depends on whether this is the final target or a step towards zero net emissions. -Go beyond prices with a policy package that triggers changes in investment patterns, technologies and behaviors. Carbon pricing is necessary for an efficient transition toward decarbonization. It is an efficient way to raise revenue, which can be used to support poverty reduction or reduce other taxes. Policymakers need to adopt measures that trigger the required changes in investment patterns, behaviors, and technologies - and if carbon pricing is temporarily impossible, use these measures as a substitute. -Mind the political economy and smooth the transition for those who stand to be most affected. Reforms live or die based on the political economy. A climate policy package must be attractive to a majority of voters and avoid impacts that appear unfair or are concentrated on a region, sector or community. Reforms have to smooth the transition for those who stand to be affected, by protecting vulnerable people but also sometimes compensating powerful lobbies.
