The Emeryville Shellmound
Author: Max Uhle
Publisher: Good Press
ISBN:
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 116
Book Description
"The Emeryville Shellmound" by Max Uhle recounts California's few but characteristic archaeological remains such as are found in the mounds of the Mississippi valley or the ancient pueblos and cliff-dweller ruins of the South. In the shellmounds along this section of the Pacific coast, artifacts were found that have helped researchers piece together history. This text helps average readers understand the profound benefits of these studies.

A Bibliography of Conceptual Writing
Author: yigru zeltil
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 1365725510
Category : Reference
Languages : en
Pages : 175
Book Description
The first ""final"" version of a never-ending project, a bibliography of conceptual literature - not just appropriation-based conceptualism, but also relatively ""rigorous"" forms of flarf, concrete poetry and so on. Like the editors of the anthology ""I'll Drown My Book: Conceptual Writing by Women,"" I consider a more inclusive definition. At least in my version (and I invite other people to continue it if they can/want to), there are more than a thousand books and hundreds of authors included from different countries, nationalities, genders - as different as it is possible for now, of course. Authors are sorted alphabetically, books by the same author chronologically. More about the process and about my views on conceptualism can be found in the opening of the book. For free PDF check http: //khora-impex.com/. P.S. The file of v1.0 did not make it through Lulu printers, sorry to those of you who ordered it. This (sadly, b&w) version contains corrections and additions.

Resource Depression and Intensification During the Late Holocene, San Francisco Bay
Author: Jack M. Broughton
Publisher: Univ of California Press
ISBN: 9780520915916
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 164
Book Description
The Emeryville Shellmound, on the east shore of San Francisco Bay, was excavated and subsequently destroyed in the early twentieth century. From its stratified deposits, which span the period 2600 to 700 years ago, the author identified 2,004 fish and 15,893 mammal specimens, and analyzed these and 2,302 avian remains previously identified by Hildegarde Howard in the 1920s. A battery of independent tests derived from foraging theory supports the conclusion that human-induced impacts on vertebrate populations caused declines in the efficiency of foraging across the time that the Emeryville locality was occupied.
