Book Description
For four players. A quartet using the standard percussion battery, this work explores the often-overlooked expressive qualities of percussion instruments. A number of unique but easy-to-learn techniques give the players a variety of new sounds to explore, and the challenge of playing this quiet and haunting piece will bring a new understanding of their instruments. This is a great piece for in-between" the hard-driving works. Instrumentation: Player 1: snare drum, low tom-tom, chimes; Player 2: tam-tam, suspended cymbal, sizzle cymbal, sleigh bells, 3 temple blocks or 3 mounted woodblocks; Player 3: bass drum, maracas; Player 4: 3 timpani, large suspended cymbal."

Tracks

Tracks PDF Author: Donald C. Jackson

ISBN: 1604731532
Category : Nature

Pages : 279

Book Description
Tracks is a pilgrimage into the wild, beautiful, and lonely places around us. Donald C. Jackson invites the reader to share the trail with him and discover connections to different vistas not only in the South but also in distant lands and on exotic waters. Through the many stories of this avid hunter, fisher, and trapper, Tracks travels into the swamps and wetlands, hills and tundra, forests and jungles, and on rivers, ponds, tropical lagoons, and the sea. Frog gigging adventures reveal the magic of summer nights in the Deep South. Running a trap line for racoons leads to a tiny Mississippi farm on a crystal clear winter night. Duck hunts evoke the mystery of whistling wings at sunrise, a sound that becomes almost sacramental. Big game hunts in Alaska blend with squirrel hunts along the Mississippi River and late afternoon deer hunts on the outskirts of a college town. In the Gulf of Mexico, Jackson explores science and beauty of life at sea on a fisheries research ship. Filled with experiences from decades of teaching, conservation activities, hunting, fishing, and wilderness adventures, Tracks brings into focus the natural thrill of participating fully as part of the chain of life in wild places.

Echocardiology

Echocardiology PDF Author: H. Rijsterborgh

Book Description
This symposium is the fourth of a series of scientific meetings in the field of echocardiology, held at the Erasmus University, Rotterdam.* The series was initiated by Klaas Born, who organized the first two meetings, and was continued by Charles Lancee. These previous symposia met with great success. These proceedings comprise most of the invited lectures and free commu nications which had their' live performance' during the 4th Symposium on Echocardiology. We decided, again, to maintain one ofthe most striking features of the last meetings: having the proceedings available at the time of the meeting. As a consequence, the authors-to-be were confronted with a very tight schedule. The editing time was also limited and therefore neither terminology nor units have been completely standardized. However, as a result, these proceedings do reflect the 'state of the art' in echocardiology. This is not a textbook on echocardiology, but cardiologists and techni cians, with experience in the field of echocardiology, will certainly appreciate the educational features of this book. This symposium was organized in association with Interuniversity Institute of Cardiology, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Dutch Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology Dutch Heart Foundation, The Hague, the Netherlands European Society of Cardiology Financial support was given by Interuniversity Institute of Cardiology, Amsterdam, the Netherlands University-fund Rotterdam Foundation, Rotterdam, the Netherlands Dutch Heart Foundation, The Hague, the Netherlands.
