Uranium · Plutonium Transplutonic Elements

Uranium · Plutonium Transplutonic Elements PDF Author: Harold C. Hodge
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642655513
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 1037

Book Description
More than a year ago the three editors sat down at a table and worked out a set of six chapter headings which they believed might serve, in turn, for each of the three sections of this handbook. (The reader will note a similarity in order of presentation and in emphasis.) However, as our editorial plans progressed it became apparent that for each element and for the element group, there were one or two special topics appropiate for that section alone. Accordingly, in the section on uranium the common pattern holds for Chaps. 1 through 6 which include: an introduction (Chap. 1), a discussion of the physical and chemical properties (Chap. 2), experimental data on animals (Chap. 3), ex perimental data on man (Chap. 4), the rationale and development of air con centration limits to control industrial worker exposure (Chap. 5), and the prac tical problems of applying such limits in the uranium industry (Chap. 6). Chap. 7 entitled "Uranium Mining Hazards" is the subject category which is special for uranium; the chapter brings up to date the account of an important occupational hazard which was first noted by GEORGIUS AGRICOLA (1490-1555).

Chemical Thermodynamics of Neptunium and Plutonium

Chemical Thermodynamics of Neptunium and Plutonium PDF Author: Robert J. Lemire
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 9780444503794
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 876

Book Description
Unlike earlier books in this series, this review describes the selection of chemical thermodynamic data for species of two elements, neptunium and plutonium. Although this came about more by circumstance than design, it has allowed for a more consistent approach to chemical interpretation than might have occurred in two separate treatments. It has also drawn attention to cases where the available data do not show expected parallels, and where further work may be useful to confirm or refute apparent differences in the behaviour of neptunium and plutonium.

Recent Advances In Actinide Science

Recent Advances In Actinide Science PDF Author: Iain May
Publisher: Royal Society of Chemistry
ISBN: 1847555365
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 831

Book Description
Actinide elements and their chemistry have a significant number of applications. Bringing together contributions from the leading experts in the field, Recent Advances in Actinide Science covers six main topics: * Analysis, the environment and biotransformations * Coordination and organometallic chemistry * Heavy elements * Nuclear fuels, materials and waste forms * Separations and solution chemistry * Spectroscopy, magnetism and superconductivity Covering a wide range of research from pure academic studies to applied industrial science and technology, this book distils the knowledge and achievements gained in actinide science over the last four years. This high level book is aimed at researchers, both industrial and academic, and provides a comprehensive overview of the current status of actinide science.
