This annual publication examines the economic performance of the Latin American and Caribbean region as a whole, and of individual countries, for the year 2006 as well as assessing the outlook for 2007. The regional economy grew for a fourth consecutive year in 2006 with an estimated GDP growth of 5.3 per cent, with a projected GDP growth rate in 2007 of 4.7 per cent. Per capita GDP is estimated to have risen by about 3.8 per cent. Thus, the region has again performed well in comparison with past periods, but it continues to fall short of other developing regions.
