Practice Counting Money Workbook for Kids

Practice Counting Money Workbook for Kids PDF Author: Bearlyn
Publisher: CreateSpace
ISBN: 9781477520109
Category : Juvenile Nonfiction
Languages : en
Pages : 190

Book Description
This workbook includes 150 visual problems with a combination of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, dollar bills, five dollar bills, ten dollar bills, and twenty dollar bills. The problems have pictures of play money drawn by artist Bearlyn. The coins have similar relative sizes as real US coins, but have pictures of bears instead of US presidents. The pictures appear in black and white. The coins do not appear in actual size, but the relative size is approximate: Quarters look larger than nickels, nickels larger than pennies, and pennies slightly larger than dimes; and pennies appear in a different shade since they come in a different color. The actual sizes of the coins vary from picture to picture, but in any picture the relative sizes of the coins are approximately correct. Each coin clearly has the word 'penny, ' 'nickel, ' 'dime, ' or 'quarter' written on it to help distinguish among them. Kids add up the money shown in each problem. The answers are tabulated in the back of the book, and appear on pictures of piggy banks and cash registers. The problems start out with just coins. $1 bills are introduced next, then $5, $10, and finally $20 toward the end of the book.

Money and Counting Coins Workbook

Money and Counting Coins Workbook PDF Author: Maria Miller
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781523233625
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 42

Book Description
Money & Counting Coins Workbook is suitable for first and second grade. We study counting coins and bills, and learn to write money amounts in cents or in dollars. Since the workbook only has pictures for the coins, practicing with real coins is, of course, advisable. In the first lesson, we start out by counting only dimes and pennies, which is identical to practicing place value with tens and ones. The same lesson introduces the nickel. The child is instructed to count two nickels as 10 cents, which makes counting many coins much easier. Students practice counting pennies, nickels, and dimes for two lessons. The following lesson then introduces the quarter. Children should learn step-by-step: first practice counting only quarters and dimes, then quarters and nickels, and then all the coins. If counting quarters is difficult for your child, you can delay this topic and study it again at a later time. The lessons also include exercises for making given money amounts with coins and using coins in simple shopping situations. Then we practice finding change, starting with very easy problems, such as buying a 40¢ item and paying with $1. Students also learn to find change by counting up. Only small money amounts are used. If you like, you can use real or fake money and set up a play store for these exercises. Lastly, students add small money amounts in columns (where numbers are written under each other). This topic requires that they have mastered regrouping in addition.

Humble Math - 100 Days of Money, Fractions, & Telling the Time PDF Author: Humble Math
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781635783261
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 108

Book Description
100 days of counting money, learning fractions, and telling the time. Three core areas of math that students often need additional help to master. Start by counting groups of coins that have a value of a dollar or less. Slowly learn to count greater amounts of money that include small and large notes too. Add and subtract values, and even learn to make change. Learn fractions one step at a time. Start with simple fractions and eventually learn to add and subtract mixed numbers. Telling the time is one of the more difficult concepts for children to learn. Gradually progress from learning to tell hours, to quarter hours. Eventually tell time in five minute and minute increments. This is a great workbook to start out with. Most students will grasp the concepts within each of the three sections. If a student still needs more practice, Humble Math has workbooks that provide additional practice for these concepts too.
