Book Description
Get started with the ASUS Tinker Board and begin building and expanding your own projects. This book covers the basic operating systems offered by ASUS for the Tinker Board and Tinker Board S, TinkerOS and Android, and then dives deeper into its capabilities for projects; such as a music streamer or a weather display with internet connectivity. Beginners will find the resources necessary to follow along and more seasoned makers can review additional information to engage with this new single-board computer platform. The projects are broad enough to show off the capability of the Tinker Board’s hardware and they can be used as is or you can add to them based on your skill level. The ASUS Tinker Board offers an increase in hardware specs and, as a result, is more powerful compared to other single-board computers on the market, making it a great option for projects that would have previously been a challenge to run on other boards, such as the Raspberry Pi. Single-board computers in general are also gaining in popularity as solutions for many DIY tech projects, ranging from gaming to file storage to being a small form factor desktop Linux computer. Practical Tinker Board is a great resource to the maker community, enabling people to begin truly exploring the Tinker Board. What You’ll Learn: Review ASUS Tinker Board's capabilities and functions Gain a deeper understanding of different Linux distributions Build useful projects with a range of hardware and softwareTake an in-depth look at how to install, configure and use ASUS Tinker Board in projectsWho This Book Is For: Those who have previously worked on some beginner maker projects, such as basic Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects, and are looking to expand their skills and knowledge of Linux, single board computers, programming and project builds.

Visual Inference for IoT Systems: A Practical Approach

Visual Inference for IoT Systems: A Practical Approach PDF Author: Delia Velasco-Montero
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030909034
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 171

Book Description
This book presents a systematic approach to the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices achieving visual inference through deep neural networks. Practical aspects are covered, with a focus on providing guidelines to optimally select hardware and software components as well as network architectures according to prescribed application requirements. The monograph includes a remarkable set of experimental results and functional procedures supporting the theoretical concepts and methodologies introduced. A case study on animal recognition based on smart camera traps is also presented and thoroughly analyzed. In this case study, different system alternatives are explored and a particular realization is completely developed. Illustrations, numerous plots from simulations and experiments, and supporting information in the form of charts and tables make Visual Inference and IoT Systems: A Practical Approach a clear and detailed guide to the topic. It will be of interest to researchers, industrial practitioners, and graduate students in the fields of computer vision and IoT.

The Philosophy of the State and the Practice of Welfare

The Philosophy of the State and the Practice of Welfare PDF Author: Helen Bosanquet
Publisher: Taylor & Francis
ISBN: 1040129838
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 361

Book Description
Unemployment, poverty and the role of the state were themes which structured the discourse of social theory and the developing social legislation in Britain at the end of the Victorian period and the early twentieth century. This collection examines the neglected contribution of Bernard and Helen Bosanquet to that contemporary maelstrom of ideas about the condition of the people, the process of social reform and the practice of social work. Like their contemporaries Sidney and Beatrice Webb, the Bosanquets were a significant partnership integrating philosophy and practice, theory and action. Bernard Bosanquet, the Idealist philosopher, is best known for his study The Philosophical Theory of the State. His wife Helen, economist and social worker, was a member of the Royal Commission on the Poor Laws (1905-9) and between 1909 and 1921, editor of the Charity Organisation Review. Themselves selective supporters of state welfare schemes, they helped to re-fashion the Charity Organisation Society away from its nineteenth century individualism by their advocacy of organic social collectivism. But character, self development and responsibility remained central tenets of their welfare programme. This collection re-publishes most of the Bosanquets' principal books and articles relating to the philosophy of the state and the practice of welfare. The development of their ideas in the context of their own time, and their relevance to current debates in the theory and practice of welfare, forms the basis of a substantial introduction by David Gladstone, the series editor. This Volume looks at social work and charity.
