The best grasses cannot be collected at too great an expence; for, I have seen a small spot of land, in the middle of a large piece, which wu laid down twelve dr fourteen years since, by Mr. Swimmers asr, upon the estate of Mr. Paton, of Foxley, in Herefordshire, with some choice seeds, at the same time when the remainder of the field was laid '3 down with common seeds; and this spot is considerably better than the rest: it not only appeared so to my judg ment, but was allowed to be so by Mr. Parca's baillii', who was well acquainted with its produce; From Mr. Stu. Linorlsn'r's experiments, and my own observations, I am clearly of Opinion, that any person who has land culti vatod for grass, may improve it, by this method of laying it down, to a much greater degree than he can in the common way.
