Periodic Tables Unifying Living Organisms At The Molecular Level: The Predictive Power Of The Law Of Periodicity

Periodic Tables Unifying Living Organisms At The Molecular Level: The Predictive Power Of The Law Of Periodicity PDF Author: Antonio Lima-de-faria
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9813227036
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 332

Book Description
The DNA sequencing of a series of living organisms has elucidated many biological problems. But the internal atomic and electronic evolution of DNA remains to be mapped in detail. RNA and DNA now appear to be the prime determinants of biological evolution leading to the sudden appearance of novel organism structures and functions that emerge 'ready made' as a surprise to the organism. This has been demonstrated by the manipulation of genes that led to the sudden production of additional complete wings and legs in flies and birds. The study of this internal atomic construction of macromolecules is being investigated at the large electron accelerators such as the MAX IV Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, Lund University, Sweden. The periodicity of the chemical elements is well known from its iconic Table. Significantly, this periodicity can now be seen to extend to the properties of living organisms. Biological properties as different as: flight, vision, luminescence and regeneration, as well as others, show unexpectedly periodic emergence. They resurface, without previous announcement, in most unrelated plant and animal families and they emerge irrespective of whether the organism is a simple invertebrate or a most complex mammal. Moreover, this periodicity does not necessarily start at the cell or DNA levels but appears initially in crystals and minerals, where it is shown to be a pure atomic and electronic process, e.g. in luminescence and regeneration. The assembled molecular evidence led to the construction of Periodic Tables of living organisms, placing them in a position comparable to the periodicity of the chemical elements. Surprisingly, there are striking resemblances between the periodicities of the chemical elements and those of living organisms. In addition, the two types of Tables increase our insight into the events directing atomic evolution since the periodic law established in chemical elements turns out to be applicable to the periodicity of living organisms. The new Periodic Tables introduce a predictive capacity in biological evolution that before was hardly contemplated.Eric Scerri, from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, California University, Los Angeles, who is the Author of the book 'The Periodic Table. Its Story and its Significance', Oxford University Press, stated in an e-mail that 'Professor Lima-de-Faria's book is wonderful and a pioneering work'.

The Elements We Live By

The Elements We Live By PDF Author: Anja Røyne
Publisher: The Experiment
ISBN: 1615196463
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 205

Book Description
This “excellent” popular science book explores just what we—and the things around us—are made of (Aftenposten, Norway). Some elements get all the attention: glittering gold, radioactive uranium—materials we call “precious” because they are so rare. But what could be more precious than the building blocks of life—from the oxygen in our air to the carbon in all living things? In The Elements We Live By, physicist and award-winning author Anja Røyne reminds us that we’d be lost without the quiet heroes of the periodic table. Our bodies need phosphorous to hold our DNA together, potassium to power our optic nerves, and many more elements—in just the right amounts—to function. Other fundamental elements keep our technology (and society) running: Our phones contain arsenic, boron, and gallium to control signals and store information; indium and tin for the touch screen; and lithium for the battery. Everything is made of elements—every galaxy, star, and planet—from the iron in Earth’s core to the silicon in its sand. But that doesn’t mean the elements we rely on will never run out; for example, about half the lithium we need is extracted from rocks in Australia, and the other half is from saltwater in Argentina and Chile. As Røyne travels the world to find where these elements exist (some in ever-shrinking amounts), she shows how vitally urgent it is for us to protect them—the elements of our very existence. “Not just a discussion of basic chemistry, this is a volume that looks at the human impact on the planet and what we can learn from nature...Useful for science or sociology courses that address the various impacts of natural resource development or for popular science readers.” —School Library Journal

Book Description
An around-the-world journey to discover where in the wild we can find the elements of life and the surprising ways they’re essential to our survival We all know that we depend on elements for survival—from the oxygen in the air we breathe to the carbon in the molecular structures of all living things. But we don’t often stop to appreciate how, say, phosphorous holds our DNA together or how potassium powers our optic nerves so that we can see. In The Elements We Live By, physicist and award-winning author Anja Røyne takes us on an astonishing journey through chemistry and physics, introducing the building blocks from which we humans—and the world—are made. Not only does Røyne explain why our bodies need iron, phosphorus, silicon, potassium, and many more elements in just the right amounts in order to function, she also leads us around the world to where these precious elements are found (some of them in ever-shrinking quantities). You’ll understand how precariously balanced our lives—and ways of life—really are, and you’ll see these unsung heroes of the periodic table in an entirely new light.

Energy Wave of the Periodic Table

Energy Wave of the Periodic Table PDF Author: William C. Scott
Publisher: Energy Spectrum Pub
ISBN: 9780979823510
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 80

Book Description
Definitive Periodic Law is revealed in arrangement of new Periodic Table, repeating sequential numbers of protons discovered in Groups 1 through 18 in the elements of the new ENERGY WAVE of the Periodic Table. The elements in the new ENERGY WAVE of the Periodic Table are given in the ground state, which is one electron for each proton. This arrangement provided a unique opportunity to observe the nucleus of the elements. By incorporating the sequential numbers of protons underlying the Energy Levels K, L, M, N, O, P, & Q in shell blocks s, p, d, and f of the Group elements, it revealed what had been hidden and veiled in the complexity of electron configurations. Sequential numbers of protons are observed to repeat in the Group elements from period to period. This is the true revealed energy force creating the similar physical and chemical properties of Groups 1 through 18 from period to period in the Periodic Table. The ENERGY WAVE of the Periodic Table had revealed Definitive Periodic Law... "Definitive Periodic Law is the number of protons underlying the Energy Levels K, L, M, N, O, P, & Q in the nucleus of the Elements. These sequential numbers of protons repeat in shell blocks s, p, d, and f, forming groups that have similar physical and chemical properties from period to period." These sequential numbers of protons are the cornerstones of the nucleus and provide the atomic orbitals of the electrons the foundation for their spatial relationship to the nucleus as described by the azimuthal (angular) and magnetic numbers of quantum chemistry. These sequential numbers of protons are very important, as they reveal new explanation to chemical bond angles and the molecular geometry and structure of molecules.
