Fluidized-bed Coating with Plastics

Fluidized-bed Coating with Plastics PDF Author: Plastics Technical Evaluation Center (U.S.)
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Corrosion resistant materials
Languages : en
Pages : 254

Book Description
This report on the relatively new field of fluidized-bed coating with plastics is intended to give military agencies and contractors a good idea of the possibilities and limitations of the technique. In the normal use of the process a metal part is heated to a temperature somewhat higher than the melting point of the resin powder with which it is to be coated. Upon immersion of the preheated metal part into a bed or bath of resin powder, usually kept at room temperature and fluidized by a current of air, the powder particles are fused onto the surface of the part. Postheating may or may not be necessary to smooth and/or cure the coating. This report has detailed information on 139 references, including 39 foreign and American patents. (Author).

Book Description
I am pleased to present the Fifth Edition of the Plastics Engineering Handbook. Last published in 1976, this version of the standard industry reference on plastics processing incorporates the numerous revisions and additions necessitated by 14 years of activity in a dynamic industry. At that last printing, then-SPI President Ralph L. Harding, Jr. anticipated that plastics pro duction would top 26 billion pounds in 1976 (up from 1.25 billion in 1947, when the First Edition of this book was issued). As I write, plastics production in the United States had reached almost 60 billion pounds annually. Indeed, the story of the U.S. plastics industry always has been one of phenomenal growth and unparalleled innovation. While these factors make compilation of a book such as this difficult, they also make it necessary. Thus I acknowledge all those who worked to gather and relate the information included in this 1991 edition and thank them for the effort it took to make the Plastics Engineering Handbook a definitive source and invaluable tool for our industry. Fluidization, Solids Handling, and Processing

Fluidization, Solids Handling, and Processing PDF Author: Wen-Ching Yang
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0815517238
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 909

Book Description
This volume, Fluidization, Solids Handling, and Processing, is the first of a series of volumes on "Particle Technology". Particles are important products of chemical process industries spanning the basic and specialty chemicals, agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, paints, dyestuffs and pigments, cement, ceramics, and electronic materials. Solids handling and processing technologies are thus essential to the operation and competitiveness of these industries. Fluidization technology is employed not only in chemical production, it also is applied in coal gasification and combustion for power generation, mineral processing, food processing, soil washing and other related waste treatment, environmental remediation, and resource recovery processes. The FCC (Fluid Catalytic Cracking) technology commonly employed in the modern petroleum refineries is also based on fluidization principles.

User's Guide to Powder Coating, 4th Edition

User's Guide to Powder Coating, 4th Edition PDF Author: Nicholas P. Liberto
Publisher: Society of Manufacturing Engineers
ISBN: 0872636488
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 202

Book Description
The book addresses recent developments which have contributed to powder coating's ever-increasing favorability over liquid coating. Since the publication of the last edition, this process has been adapted to a wider range of applications, notably for high-temperature and temperature-sensitive products. Equipment has been greatly improved, achieving faster color change, increasing transfer efficiency, and reducing overall powder usage. Environmental requirements have prompted many companies to switch to powder coating. 'Users Guide to Powder Coating, Fourth Edition' combines information on the latest breakthroughs in the industry (notable ultraviolet-curable materials for plastic and wood products, and improved systems) and tried-and-true guidelines from the previous edition (including factors like material selection, design considerations, surface preparation, quality control and testing, trouble shooting and safety, and more), so you can achieve superior finishes with efficiency.

Book Description
The two-volume reference work Chemical Technology and the Environment provides readers with knowledge on contemporary issues in environmental pollution, prevention and control, as well as regulatory, health and safety issues as related to chemical technology. It introduces and expands the knowledge on emerging "green" materials and processes and "greener" energy technology, as well as more general concepts and methodology including sustainable development and chemistry and green chemistry. Based on Wiley's renowned, Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, this compact reference features the same breadth and quality of coverage and clarity of presentation found in the original.

Handbook of Polymer Coatings for Electronics

Handbook of Polymer Coatings for Electronics PDF Author: James J. Licari
Publisher: William Andrew
ISBN: 0815517688
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 409

Book Description
This completely revised edition remains the only comprehensive treatise on polymer coatings for electronics. Since the original edition, the applications of coatings for the environmental protection of electronic systems have greatly increased, largely driven by the competitive need to reduce costs, weight and volume. The demands for high-speed circuits for the rapid processing of signals and data, high-density circuits for the storage and retrieval of megabits of memory, and the improved reliability required of electronics for guiding and controlling weapons and space vehicles have triggered the development of many new and improved coating polymers and formulations. Both the theoretical aspects of coatings (molecular structure of polymer types and their correlation with electrical and physical properties) and applied aspects (functions, deposition processes, applications, testing) are covered in the book. Over 100 proprietary coating formulations were reviewed, their properties collated, and tables of comparative properties prepared. This book is useful as both a primer and as a handbook for collecting properties data.

Spouted and Spout-Fluid Beds

Spouted and Spout-Fluid Beds PDF Author: Norman Epstein
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139492721
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 363

Book Description
Since the pioneering text by Mathur and Epstein over 35 years ago, much of the work on this subject has been extended or superseded, producing an enormous body of scattered literature. This edited volume unifies the subject, pulling material together and underpinning it with fundamental theory to produce the only complete, up-to-date reference on all major areas of spouted bed research and practice. With contributions from internationally renowned research groups, this book guides the reader through new developments, insights and models. The hydrodynamic and reactor models of spouted and spout-fluid beds are examined, as well as such topics as particle segregation, heat and mass transfer, mixing and scale-up. Later chapters focus on drying, particle-coating and energy-related applications based on spouted and spout-fluid beds. This is a valuable resource for chemical and mechanical engineers in research and industry.
