L'évolution de la maladie d'Alzheimer a des conséquences tant sur les habitudes de vie de la personne que sur celles de l'aidant. Au fur et à mesure que s'installe la relation d'aide, et avec la dépendance croissante de la personne, le bien-être de ce couple est mis à mal. Comment l'ergothérapeute intervenant en équipe spécialisée Alzheimer (ESA) peut-il développer le pouvoir d'agir des aidants pour améliorer le bien-être du couple aidant-aidé ? Une formation aux principes de réadaptation cognitive auprès des aidants leur permettrait de développer leur pouvoir d'agir et ainsi d'améliorer le bien-être du couple aidant-aidé. Entretiens individuels semi-directifs avec des ergothérapeutes et des assistants de soins en gérontologie (ASG) travaillant en ESA depuis au moins deux ans dans différents départements français. Trois ergothérapeutes et un assistant de soins en gérontologie ont participé à l'étude. Inclure l'aidant et l'aidé dans les interventions, valoriser leurs compétences, réinvestir des activités signifiantes en tant que couple et une meilleure compréhension de la maladie et de ses conséquences sont autant d'éléments permettant de développer le pouvoir d'agir des aidants et d'avoir un impact sur le bien-être du couple aidant-aidé. Former les aidants à des principes de réadaptation cognitive leur donnerait du pouvoir d'agir et pourrait avoir un effet bénéfique pour certains couples. Selon les participants, cette formation devrait être réalisée lors de quelques séances parmi les 15 proposées par l'ESA ou être développée en parallèle, sous forme d'éducation thérapeutique du patient (ETP) avec des sessions en groupe et individuelles. Les résultats soulignent l'importance de la formation professionnelle continue et suggèrent qu'une évaluation systématique du fardeau de l'aidant en début et en fin d'accompagnement est nécessaire pour estimer l'influence de l'intervention sur le bien-être du couple.
