Book Description
Stop searching through the endless amount of literature to find the most recent information on plate buckling. The authors of Handbook of Thin Plate Buckling and Post Buckling have already done the work for you. Detailed and clearly written, the book contains a comprehensive, up-to-date treatment of the buckling and postbuckling behavior of perfect and imperfect thin plates. The authors study, in detail and with specific solved examples, the essential factors that influence critical buckling loads, initial mode shapes, and postbuckling behavior for thin plates. Through their analysis of rectangular, circular, and annular plates, they present valuable information, some of which has never before been published in book form. Such topics include hygrothermal buckling, viscoelastic and plastic buckling, and buckling of various thickness plates. With this important collection, the Handbook of Thin Plate Buckling and Post Buckling provides you with a one-stop source of current research findings.

Post-Buckling Behavior of Long Rectangular Plates

Post-Buckling Behavior of Long Rectangular Plates PDF Author: Hugh Lawson Davidson
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Buckling (Mechanics)
Languages : en
Pages : 85

Book Description
The purpose of this report is the determination of the postbuckling behavior of long rectangular plates subjected to edge compression as they are used in stiffened plate panels. The behavior investigated is the relationship between the average applied edge stress and the strain at the longitudinal edge. Of primary interest here are steel plates having a b/t ratio ranging from 60 to 100, where b is the plate width and t is the thickness.

Test Fixture for Rectangular Plates in Post Buckling Range

Test Fixture for Rectangular Plates in Post Buckling Range PDF Author: Donald R. Rutledge
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 33

Book Description
A description of a test fixture designed to investigate the large deflection post-buckling behavior of long rectangular plates is presented. The fixture simulates the support of longitudinal stiffeners yet permits load and deformation data for the plate alone to be measured. Compressive loads are applied in the plane of the plate at two opposite ends. Sketches suggesting methods to apply lateral loads are included. (Author).

Postbuckling Behavior Of Plates And Shells

Postbuckling Behavior Of Plates And Shells PDF Author: Hui-shen Shen
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9813147016
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 697

Book Description
As an expert in structure and stress analysis, the author has written extensively on functionally graded materials (FGMs), nonlinear vibration and dynamic response of functionally graded material plates in thermal environments, buckling and postbuckling analysis of single-walled carbon nanotubes in thermal environments. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the author's works which include significant contributions to the postbuckling behavior of plates and shells under different loading and environmental conditions. This book comprises eight chapters. Each chapter contains adequate introductory material so that an engineering graduate who is familiar with basic understanding of plates and shells will be able to follow it.

Loads and Deformations of Buckled Rectangular Plates

Loads and Deformations of Buckled Rectangular Plates PDF Author: Manuel Stein
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Buckling (Mechanics)
Languages : en
Pages : 40

Book Description
The nonlinear large-deflection equations of von Kármán for plates are converted into a set of linear equations by expanding the displacements into a power series in terms of an arbitrary parameter. The post-buckling behavior of simply supported rectangular plates subjected to longitudinal compression and subject to a uniform temperature rise is investigated in detail by solving the first few of the equations. Experimental data are presented for the compression problem. Comparisons are made for total shortening and local strains and deflections which indicate good agreement between experimental and theoretical results.

Encyclopedia of Continuum Mechanics

Encyclopedia of Continuum Mechanics PDF Author: Holm Altenbach
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9783662557709
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
This Encyclopedia covers the entire science of continuum mechanics including the mechanics of materials and fluids. The encyclopedia comprises mathematical definitions for continuum mechanical modeling, fundamental physical concepts, mechanical modeling methodology, numerical approaches and many fundamental applications. The modelling and analytical techniques are powerful tools in mechanical civil and areospsace engineering, plus in related fields of plasticity, viscoelasticity and rheology. Tensor-based and reference-frame-independent, continuum mechanics has recently found applications in geophysics and materials.
