Book Description
Excerpt from The Plant Disease Reporter: Issued by Division of Mycology and Disease Survey, Supplement 83, Crop Losses From Plant Diseases in the United States in 1928, 1929, 1930, April 1, 1932 In general the crop loss estimates as originally furnished by collaborators to the Plant Disease Survey have been computed and issued in tabular form as preliminary estimates. These have been sent back to the collaborators for their revision and suggestions. It is, of course, recognized that most of the figures are estimates in the strict sense of the word, that is, they are usually not the results of counts or calculation but of field observations. In most cases the losses are presented both in percentage and in commercial units. Those cases, where they are presented only in percentage, are due to lack of satisfactory production figures. The most serious weakness of these estimates is that many States make no reports. Computations are in all cases based on States reporting, thus where an average is given for U. S it should be interpreted as meaning for the reporting area. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
