Selon Garry et al (2002), la methode hydrogeomorphologique, utilisee pour cartographier des zones inondables, se base sur la reconnaissance des unites geomorphologiques, faconnees par les ecoulement de surface et qui revelent les limites spatiales ainsi que les mecanismes regulateurs des inondations potentielles. L'etude de cartographie menee dans le secteur Woburn est basee sur trois elements: l'analyse de l'hydrogeomorphologie de la riviere Arnold incluant la modification temporelle du lit mineur, l'identification des elements de l'occupation du sol et la determination des zones a risque d'inondation. En raison de l'urbanisation, il est parfois difficile de limiter avec exactitude les lits des rivieres. Par contre, l'analyse hydrogeomorphologique permet d'apprecier les lits en cherchant simplement a les delimiter maximalement en periode de crue."
