Mr. Wilcox in Foibles of the Bench has described in terse and caustic style the idiosyncrasies, oddities and out in out faults of some judges of the land with whom every practising lawyer comes into contact. Keen wit, strong humor and a forcible style have made a readable book--one especially to be appreciated by the trial lawyer. The author has not written in a conservative vein--he is radical; rhetorical exaggerations and sharp sayings abound. It is rather a lively style, but for all the exaggeration, absurd comparisons and ridiculous similes which one finds, there is much of wholesome truth and sagacious observations throughout. The lawyer will be amused, the imperfect judge benefited by reading of these judicial foibles.
