Phase I Archaeological Survey of Bridge 88751 Over the Little Fork River, Town of Field, St. Louis County, Minnesota

Pages : 15
Book Description
A Phase I archaeological survey was conducted for the proposed construction in an approximate 700 foot long reconstruction corridor for Bridge 88751 on County Road 500, Town of Field, St. Louis County, Minnesota. The Area of Potential Effect (APE) of the project corridors approximately 350 feet to either side of the bridge and 75 feet to either side of the road centerline. The APE of the project was defined on maps provided by Craig Johnson (Project Manager) of the Mn/DOT Cultural Resources Unit (CRU). The presence of pre-Contact archaeological sites associated with the upland terrain in the area, especially those overlooking waterways and wetlands, suggests the possibility that additional sites may exist within the proposed construction corridor. In Minnesota sites are frequently located near water resources. Therefore, the proximity of water resources to the project area, primarily wetlands, suggests a potential for pre-Contact sites.
