Las habilidades de pensamiento histórico han ido cobrando más importancia en el ámbito escolar en la medida que el objetivo de la asignatura se ha centrado en la formación de ciudadanos críticos, activos y responsables. Por otra parte, se ha ido estandarizando más la educación con el objetivo de tener indicadores del logro de los aprendizajes de los estudiantes. Sin embargo, en muchos establecimientos se han ido reduciendo y adaptando el curriculum a aquellos aspectos que son medibles a través de pruebas de gran escala que se desarrollan en el país, invisibilizando lo que está fuera de ellas. El establecimiento de estándares para dichas habilidades permitiría dar pistas al sistema educativo tanto de su importancia como de lo que se espera logren los estudiantes al egresar de la enseñanza media. El objetivo de este artículo es exponer estándares de habilidades de pensamiento histórico acordes a las herramientas Curriculares vigentes. Para esto se utilizó una metodología de construcción de estándares a priori, en particular aquella propuesta planteada por G. Ferrer (200). Se pretende que estos estándares orienten la elaboración de progresiones, el trabajo en aula y posteriores evaluaciones que permitan a los y las docentes obtener valiosa información respecto de cómo se trabajan y van logrando estas habilidades a nivel escolar.
