Substrate Noise Coupling in Mixed-Signal ASICs

Substrate Noise Coupling in Mixed-Signal ASICs PDF Author: Stéphane Donnay
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 0306481707
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 311

Book Description
This book is the first in a series of three dedicated to advanced topics in Mixed-Signal IC design methodologies. It is one of the results achieved by the Mixed-Signal Design Cluster, an initiative launched in 1998 as part of the TARDIS project, funded by the European Commission within the ESPRIT-IV Framework. This initiative aims to promote the development of new design and test methodologies for Mixed-Signal ICs, and to accelerate their adoption by industrial users. As Microelectronics evolves, Mixed-Signal techniques are gaining a significant importance due to the wide spread of applications where an analog front-end is needed to drive a complex digital-processing subsystem. In this sense, Analog and Mixed-Signal circuits are recognized as a bottleneck for the market acceptance of Systems-On-Chip, because of the inherent difficulties involved in the design and test of these circuits. Specially, problems arising from the use of a common substrate for analog and digital components are a main limiting factor. The Mixed-Signal Cluster has been formed by a group of 11 Research and Development projects, plus a specific action to promote the dissemination of design methodologies, techniques, and supporting tools developed within the Cluster projects. The whole action, ending in July 2002, has been assigned an overall budget of more than 8 million EURO.

Book Description
This is the second edition of a very popular 1991 book describing the physics and technology of semiconductor electronic devices exploiting the Hall effect. These are magnetic field sensitive devices such as Hall elements, magnetoresistors, and magnetotransistors. Hall effect devices are commonly used as magnetic field sensors and as means for char

Magnetic Sensors and Magnetometers, Second Edition

Magnetic Sensors and Magnetometers, Second Edition PDF Author: Pavel Ripka
Publisher: Artech House
ISBN: 1630817430
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 416

Book Description
This completely updated second edition of an Artech House classic covers industrial applications and space and biomedical applications of magnetic sensors and magnetometers. With the advancement of smart grids, renewable energy resources, and electric vehicles, the importance of electric current sensors increased, and the book has been updated to reflect these changes. Integrated fluxgate single-chip magnetometers are presented. GMR sensors in the automotive market, especially for end-of-shaft angular sensors, are included, as well as Linear TMR sensors. Vertical Hall sensors and sensors with integrated ferromagnetic concentrators are two competing technologies, which both brought 3-axial single-chip Hall ICs, are considered. Digital fluxgate magnetometers for both satellite and ground-based applications are discussed. All-optical resonant magnetometes, based on the Coherent Population Trapping effect, has reached approval in space, and is covered in this new edition of the book. Whether you're an expert or new to the field, this unique resource offers you a thorough overview of the principles and design of magnetic sensors and magnetometers, as well as guidance in applying specific devices in the real world. The book covers both multi-channel and gradiometric magnetometer systems, special problems such as cross-talk and crossfield sensitivity, and comparisons between different sensors and magnetometers with respect to various application areas. Miniaturization and the use of new materials in magnetic sensors are also discussed. A comprehensive list of references to journal articles, books, proceedings and webpages helps you find additional information quickly.

Analysis and Design of MOSFETs

Analysis and Design of MOSFETs PDF Author: Juin Jei Liou
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9780412146015
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 372

Book Description
Analysis and Design of MOSFETs: Modeling, Simulation, and Parameter Extraction is the first book devoted entirely to a broad spectrum of analysis and design issues related to the semiconductor device called metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET). These issues include MOSFET device physics, modeling, numerical simulation, and parameter extraction. The discussion of the application of device simulation to the extraction of MOSFET parameters, such as the threshold voltage, effective channel lengths, and series resistances, is of particular interest to all readers and provides a valuable learning and reference tool for students, researchers and engineers. Analysis and Design of MOSFETs: Modeling, Simulation, and Parameter Extraction, extensively referenced, and containing more than 180 illustrations, is an innovative and integral new book on MOSFETs design technology.

Smart Sensor Systems

Smart Sensor Systems PDF Author: Gerard Meijer
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118703170
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 314

Book Description
With contributions from an internationally-renowned group of experts, this book uses a multidisciplinary approach to review recent developments in the field of smart sensor systems, covering important system and design aspects. It examines topics over the whole range of sensor technology from the theory and constraints of basic elements, physics and electronics, up to the level of application-orientated issues. Developed as a complementary volume to ‘Smart Sensor Systems’ (Wiley 2008), which introduces the basics of smart sensor systems, this volume focuses on emerging sensing technologies and applications, including: State-of-the-art techniques for designing smart sensors and smart sensor systems, including measurement techniques at system level, such as dynamic error correction, calibration, self-calibration and trimming. Circuit design for sensor systems, such as the design of precision instrumentation amplifiers. Impedance sensors, and the associated measurement techniques and electronics, that measure electrical characteristics to derive physical and biomedical parameters, such as blood viscosity or growth of micro-organisms. Complete sensor systems-on-a-chip, such as CMOS optical imagers and microarrays for DNA detection, and the associated circuit and micro-fabrication techniques. Vibratory gyroscopes and the associated electronics, employing mechanical and electrical signal amplification to enable low-power angular-rate sensing. Implantable smart sensors for neural interfacing in bio-medical applications. Smart combinations of energy harvesters and energy-storage devices for autonomous wireless sensors. Smart Sensor Systems: Emerging Technologies and Applications will greatly benefit final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students in the areas of electrical, mechanical and chemical engineering, and physics. Professional engineers and researchers in the microelectronics industry, including microsystem developers, will also find this a thorough and useful volume.
