Book Description
Excerpt from Pamphlets on Forestry in Wisconsin Without more positive proof on my part, owing to absence of strong magnifying glasses, and proper amount of time to devote to the work, and the advanced stage of the disease when the gasoline treatment was begun, I cannot state just what results were obtained. At any rate, here is something worth further consideration in the cleaning up of trout, and in the treatment of fin trouble herein referred to, especially if started when. The fin trouble is in the first stages. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from On the Forestry Conditions: Northern Wisconsin Ever since assuming charge of the Division the writer has contended that the primary requisite for Government activity on behalf of for estry was a tolerably accurate knowledge of the forest conditions and forestry interests of the country but he was met with the objection that it would be improper policy to do for one State what every other State might with equal right demand to have done for it, and at the same time the means placed at his disposal were never sufficient to permit him to acquire this information with any satisfactory degree of accuracy for the whole country at once. The Taxation of Forest Lands in Wisconsin (Classic Reprint)

The Taxation of Forest Lands in Wisconsin (Classic Reprint) PDF Author: Alfred K. Chittenden

ISBN: 9781332203130
Category : Business & Economics

Pages : 86

Book Description
Excerpt from The Taxation of Forest Lands in Wisconsin On the initiative of the Wisconsin State Board of Forestry, the Forest Service of the United States Department of Agriculture in April, 1910, entered into a co-operative agreement by the terms of which it was to undertake a study of forest conditions in the State of Wisconsin. The main purpose of the study was to determine the extent of the burden now carried by timberlands as a result of the present methods of taxation, and what influence, if any, such methods of taxation have or will have on the practice of forestry by private owners. Especial thanks are due the State Forester and also the State Tax Commission for the valuable assistance given throughout the course of the study. That the perpetuation of this country's forests, and their management along conservative lines, is an object of grave concern to the nation and to individual states, and a proper subject of legislation, all admit. Nor will it be denied by those having a proper regard for the future, that the time has arrived when affirmative action must be taken if this end is to be attained. Every day of delay lessens the chance of success. Forest conservation by private owners depends primarily upon one point: Does it pay ? If forestry can not be made to pay without granting it special favors it has no place in the business world of today. The two great obstacles to the practice of forestry by private owners are forest fires and an unjust and unequal system of taxation.
