Book Description
This book is a substantive record of the ancestry of the Owens families of the northern neck of Virginia, from A.D. 1960 to approximately 1178 B.C. The first chapter is specific to my family tree, starting with my grandfather, Eustace Conway Owens, then following his lineage back to Brutus Silvius, the founder and first King of Britain. However, if your last name is Owens or you have an Owens, Owain, Owen, Jones, Via, Flory, Diehl, Powell, Lewis, Tanner, Tudor, Ludlow, Morris, Merrick, Meyrick, Davis, Howell, Pettit, or Massey in your family tree, our bloodlines may cross somewhere in this history. Each chapter is representative of a generation starting with generation one or Chapter One, Eustace Conway Owens. Some Chapters include copies of documents, pedigrees, in-laws, pictures, photographs or maps. Follow the Owens family through the ages from Brutus, the first King of Britain (1178 B.C.) to the small town of Owens, Virginia (A.D. 1960).

Book Description
Sometimes history can be more entertaining than fiction..."William Owen II, Knight and 3rd Baronet of Anglesey, fled Wales and immigrated to the colonies in A.D.1650 for fear of being murdered by his cousin, who bribed the English Crown to be named 1st Baronet of Orielton, stealing the title and position from him after the death of William's father". A genealogy of the Owens families of the northern neck of Virginia, from A.D.1960 to 1178 B.C. It all starts in the town of Owens, Virginia with Eustace Conway Owens, then follows the Owens bloodline back to Brutus, the founder and first King of Britain. Three generations and extended family, such as marriages and in-laws, are included in most every chapter. Travel back through time from colonial Virginia in 1650, to medieval Wales, then to Scotland, and finally to the founding of ancient Britain. The first paragraph of each chapter contains the subject's name, other names they were known by, titles, monikers, ranks, and basic personal data when available, i.e., date of birth, place of birth, christening or baptism, date of death, place of death, date of burial, and place of burial. The story or narrative of each person begins with the second paragraph. This usually starts with information regarding the subject's place of birth or marriage with a list of their children. Where available, biographical information is provided for the subject's children, or a short sub-paragraph of available facts. In the case of limited information, the subject's story or narrative may be a short statement giving the reason for the lack of information. It is my hope that you and anyone else interested in the ancestry of America will enjoy these pages, and that it sparks your imagination and interest in researching your family history.

History of Kentucky

History of Kentucky PDF Author: William Elsey Connelley
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 930

Book Description
The present work is the result of consultation and cooperation. Those engaged in its composition have had but one purpose, and that was to give to the people of Kentucky a social and political account of their state, based on contemporaneous history, as nearly as the accomplishment of such an undertaking were possible. It has not been the purpose of those who have labored in concert to follow any line of precedent. While omitting no important event in the history of the state, there has been a decided inclination to rather stress those events that have not hitherto engaged the attention of other writers and historians, than to indulge in a mere repetitionot that which is common knowledge. How far they have succeded in this purpose a critical public must determine.

This book (actually published as 1 v. in 3) includes chiefly family history and genealogical data about thirteen different Howard families (thirteen different "sets" of Howards) listed on p. 4-6. Descendants and relatives of these Howard families of eastern Kentucky dispersed throughout the entire United States, and most of them moved to eastern Kentucky from Maryland, Virginia and the Carolina coasts.
