Book Description
In a world where technologies are constantly evolving, it is a real challenge for archivists, librarians, museum curators and information professionals to keep track of and record living theatre. Audiovisual recording techniques are now cheap and accessible to many; electronic storage and dissemination of information and images has radically altered the relationship between the managers of collections and their potential users; new techniques have introduced new possibilities for interactivity in exhibitions and displays. These are just some of the issues addressed by the SIBMAS (International Association of Libraries and Museum of the Performing Arts) during its 25thAnnual Conference, held in Barcelona in 2004.

Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Sustainable Innovation and Entrepreneurship PDF Author: Rolf Wüstenhagen
Publisher: Edward Elgar Publishing
ISBN: 184844155X
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 341

Book Description
When I received the review copy I was rather excited. . . the book as a collection of research papers that, in themselves, are very interesting, and provide a fast-track into the literature of the subject in question. . . it is a worthwhile purchase to support thinking on entrepreneurship and innovation in a world where the sustainability agenda is increasingly becoming the agenda for inventors, entrepreneurs and those who fund them or invest in their companies. . . All the papers are well written and scholarly. . . A particularly strong feature of the chapters is the range of sources quoted at the end of each chapter. These references provide pathways into many different literatures that might save much time for subsequent researchers. Lorraine Warren, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research In recent years our understanding of corporate sustainability has moved from exploitation to exploration, from corporate environmental management to sustainable entrepreneurship, and from efficiency to innovation. Yet current trends indicate the need for radical innovation via entrepreneurial start-ups or new ventures within existing corporations despite difficulties with the financing and marketing of such efforts. Presenting both conceptual and empirical research, this fascinating book addresses how we can combine environmental and social sustainability with economic sustainability in order to produce innovative new business models. The international cast of contributors addresses the wide range of issues in the balance between growth and environmental concerns. The first five chapters discuss various aspects of sustainable entrepreneurship. This is followed by two chapters that look at innovation within existing firms. Innovation is not successful until it finds a customer, so the two chapters that follow delve into the marketing aspects of business-to-consumer and business-to-business settings. The book closes with a broad discussion of the evolution and future of the research agenda into the intersection of sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship. Academics, students, business professionals, and NGOs will find this volume enlightening and useful.

Exploring Transcultural Histories of Psychotherapies

Exploring Transcultural Histories of Psychotherapies PDF Author: Sonu Shamdasani
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1000458601
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 255

Book Description
This book draws together studies of the histories of psychotherapies throughout the world in a comparative setting, charting the intersections of these connected histories and transcultural networks of knowledge exchange and healing practices. This volume’s explorations of these transcultural histories help to illuminate the way in which these practices have shaped (and continue to shape) contemporary notions of psychological disorder, well-being and identity itself. The contributors question the value-free status claimed by a wide array of contemporary psychotherapies, as well as the presuppositions of present-day ‘evidence based’ practice. Suspended between several different fields, the advent of modern psychotherapies represents one of the distinctive features of twentieth century Western societies, and one that has been rapidly spreading to other parts of the world. This volume will be of interest to those seeking to apply the conclusions of historical study to contemporary situations. This book was originally published as a special issue of The European Journal of Psychotherapy & Counselling.

The European Private Company - Societas Privata Europaea (SPE) PDF Author: Heribert Hirte
Publisher: Walter de Gruyter
ISBN: 311026045X
Category : Law

Book Description

European Competition Law Annual 2008

European Competition Law Annual 2008 PDF Author: Claus-Dieter Ehlermann
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 1847315607
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 781

Book Description
This is the thirteenth in a series on EU Competition Law and Policy produced under the auspices of the Robert Schuman Centre of the European University Institute in Florence. The volume contains the written contributions of numerous competition policy experts, together with the transcripts of a roundtable debate which examined the subject of "settlements" between enforcers of competition law and defendant companies in cartel cases and in other types of antitrust cases. The Workshop participants included: -- senior judges from major jurisdictions (the European Union, Germany and the United States); -- senior enforcement officials and policy makers from the European Commission, from the national competition authorities of certain EU Member States and from the US Department of Justice and the US Federal Trade Commission; and -- renowned international international academics, legal practitioners and professional economists. In an intense, intimate environment, this group of experts debated a number of legal and economic issues pertaining to two broad lines of discussion: 1) settlements and plea agreements in cartel cases, including their links with leniency programs and with private enforcement; and 2) settlements in "commitment" cases decided under Article 9 of Regulation 1/2003 and under comparable procedures of national law.
