Book Description
Excerpt from Stories of the Beginnings, Vol. 1: Junior Department, Second Year These textbooks are planned for church schools having a Week Day Session, a Sunday Session, and an Expressional Session meeting either on Sunday or on a week day. An absolute differentiation of the three phases of the educative process is neither possible nor desirable. The lessons are so arranged, however, that the Week Day Session is mainly informational, the Sunday Session more largely devotional, and the third session of the week largely expressional. Junior

Junior PDF Author: Thomas Kemeny
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1576879607
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 180

Book Description
There are a lot of great advertising books, but none that get down in the dirt with you quite like this one. Thomas Kemeny made a career at some of the best ad agencies in America. In this book he shows how he got in, how he's stayed in, and how you can do it too. He breaks apart how to write fun, smart, and effective copy-everything from headlines to scripts to experiential activations-giving readers a lesson on a language we all thought we already knew. This book is not a retrospective from some ad legend. It's a book that should be instantly useful for people starting out. A guide for the first few years at a place you'd actually want to work. Traditionally, advertising books have been written by people with established careers, big offices and letters like VP in their titles. They have stories from the old days when people could start in the mailroom. They are talented. That's been done. Who wants another book filled with seasoned wisdom? This is a book written by somebody still getting his bearings. Someone who has made an extraordinary number of errors in a still short career. Someone who has managed to hang onto his job despite these shortcomings.

Book Description
Excerpt from All About the Junior We have said that it is the habit-clinching period; so the habit of daily Bible-reading and daily prayer should be encouraged by the teacher, as should also that of regular church attendance. Systematic giving is emphasized now, and more definite instruction given in temperance and mis sions. Bad habits, as well as good, are formed at this time, but if the good ones are started first, there is less danger of the others taking deep root. For instance, the boy whose mind is thor oughly saturated with temperance facts through having heard the subject mentioned, though very briefly, once each Sunday during the four years of his Stay in the Junior Department, is not likely to become either a smoker or a drunkard. Following Jesus Day by Day (Concluded), Vol. 3

Following Jesus Day by Day (Concluded), Vol. 3 PDF Author: Ethel Wendell Trout
Publisher: Forgotten Books
ISBN: 9780267004454
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 210

Book Description
Excerpt from Following Jesus Day by Day (Concluded), Vol. 3: Junior Department, First Year In preparing to teach the lessons in this book, the teacher should, in the first place, read the selections from the Bible given at the beginning of each lesson. You should then read through the lesson, noting points which will be of interest to your particular class, and hunting up all information possible in your available reference books. Naturally the limits of space make it impossible to give everything that is given in larger books, which perhaps devote an entire volume to a subject here treated in only a few words. With each lesson you should try to find a point of con tact for your own class. The lessons are prepared with the thought of children nine, ten, and eleven years old, in mind, but if your class consists of nine-year-olds, or eleven-year-olds only, on will of course need slightly different treatment. Tories are suggested which the teacher may find of use in teaching the lesson. Often times a modern missionary story will bring the lesson home to the class. The Week Day Session of the school is to be largely devoted to informational material. The Junior is at an age when his memory is keenly alert, and facts mastered now will become lifelong possessions. So, during this period the geography and history of the Holy Land are given in brief form. Handwork, too, is useful for this session. Map-drawing is suggested; a map of plasticine may be completed during the sessions. A large black board map of Palestine may be started, and filled in as the lessons progress. It will be well to have, also, a large wall map of Palestine to use in connection with the lessons. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from The Junior Worker and Work As in the affairs of men, so in the development of character during childhood and youth, there are tides which, taken at their flood, lead on to victory. Such a flood-tide period in the religious life of every normal boy and girl is that brief stretch of time called later childhood and known in Sunday-school nomenclature as the junior period. It covers approximately the years nine to eleven or twelve. During this period, which is one of rapid transition, the traits and interests of earlier childhood give way to those of full-fledged boyhood and girlhood. Physical and mental changes bring strange premonitions of riper years. There are noticeable a dawning social consciousness, a growing recognition of right and wrong, and an awakening conscience. These are first steps toward independence in moral conduct. In the inner realm of the spirit growth is likewise rapid, bringing to the life of the boy and girl a first religious crisis with a spiritual awakening that marks a flood tide of opportunity for leading the individual boy or girl to personal decision for Christ. The work of religious nurture and training during this important period is the theme of this book, which is intended especially for teachers of junior pupils in the church school. The author, Josephine L. Baldwin, is the well-known writer of the Graded Lessons for the junior years. She speaks as one having authority, but in language that every teacher and every parent can understand. The book makes possible self-improvement on the part of those who cannot attend a teacher-training class, or whose previous opportunities for reading and study have been meager. It is suit able for use in training classes, as a specialization unit for the Junior Department. It is intended to supersede the earlier manual bearing the same title. Book Description
Excerpt from The Juniors: How to Teach and Train Them Dr. B. S. Winchester says, The supreme aim of the Sunday school is to develop to the utmost the religious life of every pupil. If this aim is to be realized, each pupil must be taught the Word of God, be led to confess Jesus Christ as Saviour, be furnished with material for building Christian character, and be trained in Christian service.
