Organotin(IV)n+ Complexes Formed with Biologically Active Ligands
Resúmenes : 1997, Pamplona
Organotin Complexes of Heterocyclic-4-Cyclohexylthiosemicarbazones
Author: M. A. Salam
Publisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing
ISBN: 9783847340836

Languages : en
Pages : 112
Book Description
Eight new organotin(IV) complexes (3-10) with 2-acetylpyridine-N(4)-cyclohexylthiosemicarbazone [HPACT, (1)] and ten new organotin(IV) complexes (11-20) with 2-benzoylpyridine-N(4)-cyclohexylthiosemicarbazone [HBPCT, (2)] have been synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic techniques and X-ray crystallography. In all the complexes (3-20), both ligands (1-2) are coordinated to the tin(IV) atom through the thiolato-S, azomethine-N and pyridine-N atoms, respectively. The X-ray study found that the all complexes are monomer and the central tin(IV) atom is six coordinated in a distorted octahedral geometry. The ligands (1-2) and their organotin(IV) complexes (3-20) were screened for their in vitro antibacterial and cytotoxicity. The screening results revealed that all these compounds have shown significant antibacterial and potential antitumor activity. Results of biological studies demonstrate that organotin(IV) derivatives are in general more active than the free ligands. In view of the diverse fields of applications, the results of wood decay resistance test showed that the novel organotin(IV) treated wood increased the duration of protection against biodegradation.

The Organotin(IV) Complexes of Phosphoramides

Book Description
It has been kwon that the chemistry of organotin(IV) complexes is of great interest because of their applications in medicine as anticancer, antitumor, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal and antifouling agents that have made them as metal-based drugs. Furthermore, they can act as efficient catalysts in the chemical reactions. It is notable that although a number of researches have been conducted on the coordination compounds of organotin(IV) with various organic ligands, there are few reports about synthesis and characterization of organotin(IV) complexes containing phosphoramide ligands. Thus, this area of organometallic chemistry has a great potential to grow by inorganic chemists and since phosphoramides compounds have also shown promising medicinal and clinical applications like anticancer, anti-HCV, anti-HIV properties, their organotin(IV) complexes may indicate enhanced medicinal applications. Therefore, this work reviews the synthesis, X-ray crystal structures, DFT calculations, antibacterial activities and nanoparticles of organotin(IV) complexes including phosphoramides ligands.

Book Description
In common with the editor of the first edition, my own personal involvement with tin chemistry began when I had the privilege of studying for a PhD degree under the supervision of Professor Alwyn G. Davies FRS at University College London (UCL) almost exactly 30 years ago. Then, following 21 years' service with the International Tin Research Institute, it was a great pleasure for me when the wheel turned full circle and, in 1994, Alwyn - now an Emeritus Professor - asked me to return to UCL as an Honorary Research Fellow in the Chemistry Department. One of my first tasks was when I received an invitation from Blackie A&P to edit the second edition of the Chemistry of Tin, which I was delighted to accept, since it enabled me to continued my life-long interest in tin chemistry and to maintain contact with my former friends and colleagues, many of whom have contributed to this book.

Book Description
Organotins are widespread contaminants especially of water environments. Their chemically versatile structure makes organotin compounds able to bind to a variety of biomolecules thus widely affecting biological functions. Trisubstituted molecules, namely tributyltin (TBT) and triphenyltin (TPhT), have been widely employed in antifouling paints and are also exploited as plastic stabilizers that unfortunately cause harmful biological effects. Persistent bioaccumulation has resulted in organotins becoming a significant environmental threat. Chapter by chapter, the biological and biochemical effec.
