Book Description
Here is an intriguing look at the basic principles of organizational behavior management and their relationship to the more traditional psychological/managerial characterizations of human behavior modification within organizations. Organizational behavior management specialists explore the applications and issues regarding behavioral procedures in the public sector and examine the recent success of behavior modification as it has been used in business, industry, and government. Handbook of Principles of Organizational Behavior

Handbook of Principles of Organizational Behavior PDF Author: Edwin Locke
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0470685336
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 694

Book Description
There is a strong movement today in management to encourage management practices based on research evidence. In the first volume of this handbook, I asked experts in 39 areas of management to identify a central principle that summarized and integrated the core findings from their specialty area and then to explain this principle and give real business examples of the principle in action. I asked them to write in non-technical terms, e.g., without a lot of statistics, and almost all did so. The previous handbook proved to be quite popular, so I was asked to edit a second edition. This new edition has been expanded to 33 topics, and there are some new authors for the previously included topics. The new edition also includes: updated case examples, updated references and practical exercises at the end of each chapter. It also includes a preface on evidence-based management. The principles for the first edition were intended to be relatively timeless, so it is no surprise that most of the principles are the same (though some chapter titles include more than one principle). This book could serve as a textbook in advanced undergraduate and in MBA courses. It could also be of use to practicing managers and not just those in Human Resource departments. Every practicing manager may not want to read the whole book, but I am willing to guarantee that every one will find at least one or more chapters that will be practically useful. In this time of economic crisis, the need for effective management practices is more acute than ever.

Organizational Behavior

Organizational Behavior PDF Author: Joseph E. Champoux
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1135215618
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 819

Book Description
The fourth edition of Organizational Behaviour: Integrating Individuals, Groups and Organizations is a well-organized introduction to the current field of organizational behavior with in-depth coverage of the most critical concepts. Its practical approach shows the power of organizational behavior theory for understanding one’s behavior and the behavior of others in any organization. Although firmly grounded in behavioral science theory and research, the text is not a compendium of research findings. Champoux includes examples and builds frameworks that make the material clear and easy to understand. The concise format allows the text to be used as a primer or to be supplemented with additional cases, readings, or exercises. More interactive than in previous editions, this text provides students with several online features to reinforce their knowledge of chapter content with exercises, practice and other learning opportunities. An extraordinary supplementary package, all prepared by the author, is innovative and extensive in its content.

Changing Employee Behavior

Changing Employee Behavior PDF Author: Nik Kinley
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 113744956X
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 240

Book Description
An important part of every manager's job is changing people's behavior: to improve someone's performance, get them to better manage relationships with colleagues, or to stop them doing something. Yet, despite the fact that changing people's behavior is such an important skill for managers, too many are unsure how to actually go about it. This book reveals the simple, but powerful techniques for changing behavior that experts from a range of disciplines have been using for years, making them available to all managers in a single and comprehensive toolkit for change that managers can use to drive and improve the performance of their staff. Based on research conducted for this book, it introduces practical techniques drawn from the fields of psychology, psychotherapy, and behavioral economics, and show how they can be applied to address some of the most common, every-day challenges that managers face. #changingpeople
