Trade and Transport Facilitation Assessment

Trade and Transport Facilitation Assessment PDF Author: World Bank
Publisher: World Bank Publications
ISBN: 0821384139
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 106

Book Description
The 'Trade and Transport Facilitation Assessment' (TTFA) is a tool for identifying inefficiencies in international supply chains that limit a country s ability to compete in international trade. The TTFA examines problems that affect not only exports competitiveness, but also the ability to import and distribute inputs to production and consumer goods. This new TTFA toolkit was developed to meet the growing demand for facilitation and logistics reforms in an environment of increasing global competition and expanded trade in intermediate goods. It reflects practical experience and the change in the nature of demand from developing countries. The TTFA focuses on simplification and harmonization of trade-related procedures and identifies the opportunities for improving logistics services, infrastructure, and the overall performance of specific supply chains. It also outlines practices to develop plans of action with proper interactions with government agencies and stakeholders.

Transport Logistics

Transport Logistics PDF Author: Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
Publisher: OECD Publishing
ISBN:
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 58

Book Description
Globalisation and advances in information and communication technologies are reshaping the world s trading patterns. Today s internationally competitive businesses work through strategic, integrated global networks designed to deliver efficient and high-quality response to demands from anywhere in the world. This trend has given rise to the terms "global logistics" or "supply-chain management". In addition, growing environmental concerns require that logistics should not only be efficient; they should also contribute to sustainable development. How do governments understand the current state of logistics systems? Do we share a vision of desired global logistics networks towards which governments can work? What are the barriers to achieving efficient and sustainable logistics networks? The OECD TRILOG project aimed to provide insights into these key issues through an exchange of experiences relating to freight transport logistics in the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North American regions. This report attempts to identify constraints and address issues common to the three regions, and suggest possible solutions and approaches that could facilitate the development of policies to promote efficient and sustainable international logistics.

Freight Forwarder Business Startup

Freight Forwarder Business Startup PDF Author: Allen McCarthy
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN: 9781542905183

Languages : en
Pages : 98

Book Description
Freight Forwarder Business Startup How to Start, Run & Grow a Successful Freight Forwarding Business The global freight forwarding market has been seeing a steady growth of around 5% for last four years in a row now. This trend is expected to continue and grow bigger. With all the new trade deals like TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership), TAP (Trans-Atlantic Partnership) and many other similar trade deals between countries are bringing the whole world into one marketplace. According to Transportation Intelligence, a leading logistics research firm, in 2013 the freight forwarding industry was at 129 Billion, but as of today, it has grown by another 16-20 billion more. This is an industry that in my opinion still in its infancy, with TPP, TAP and many other global trade agreements, the need for such services will grow higher every year. Another rapid growth I see in this business is from all the Amazon FBA(Fulfilled By Amazon) business owners, most of who buy their merchandise from China. Now Amazon never accepts merchandise directly from a foreign country, so each and every piece of merchandise has to come through a freight forwarder/broker. This way the merchandise can get relabeled and shipped to various Amazon warehouses. In This Book You Will Learn: What is a Freight Forwarder What Is Freight Forwarding Business Types of Freight Forwarders Steps To Becoming A Freight Forwarder How to get started How and Where to Get Trained What Courses You Should Take How To Setup Your Business Legal Factors Freight Forwarder Licenses Steps to FMCSA Registration Insurance Requirements Running a Freight Forwarding Business Trading Condition and Limiting Liability How To Promote & Grow Your Business The Elements of Price Quote Links to all forms and applications But one word of caution, please don't think reading this book will be enough to get started as a freight forwarder, it takes some training either on the job (like I did) or formal school or online training to get started in this business. In this book, I shared some of the resources that are available for you to get started. If you are thinking about getting into this business, trust me when I say this, there is not a better time than now to get started. Do your research, get educated, get started. Good luck!

Freight Forwarder's Intermediary Role in Multimodal Transport Chains

Freight Forwarder's Intermediary Role in Multimodal Transport Chains PDF Author: Hans-Joachim Schramm
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3790827746
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 375

Book Description
In this book, the business of international freight forwarding is examined from both a theoretical and empirical point of view with a special emphasis on multimodal transport chains, including sea or air transport operations. In such contexts, the freight forwarder is always considered "The Architect of Transport", but this intermediary role seems to be largely neglected in research to date. Therefore, relevant concepts from economic theory and economic sociology are employed to produce both an intermediary and a network perspective of freight forwarding in order to provide a better understanding of this kind of transportation business. Furthermore, its intermediary role in such inherent network structures is explored by mapping relationship patterns in a stylized model framework applied to a questionnaire-based sample collected among freight forwarders engaged in such multimodal transport chains in Germany (especially from Hamburg, Bremen and Bremerhaven) as well as in Austria in 2003.
