The Clean Coal Technology (CCT) Demonstration Program is an effort to demonstrate a new generation of innovative coal utilization processes in a series of facilities built across the country. These commercial scale projects will prove technical feasibility and provide the info. required for future applications. Among the technologies being demonstrated is fluidized bed combustion (FBC). FBC is an electric power generation process that minimizes the formation of gaseous pollutants by controlling coal combustion parameters and by injecting a sorbent (such as crushed limestone) into the combustion chamber along with the fuel.
