Book Description
America is divided on many fronts. Where are the answers? How will the future and security of America unfold in the days to come? My previous books address personal issues. This book, however, recognizes the biblical foundation that once guided America. These principles are the foundation on which America's success rests. My objective is not to be judgmental or negative but to expose the danger of striving to be One Nation 'Above' God. My intention is not to endorse a political party, policy, or candidate, or to elevate America's Founders-but to point to the power of Scripture to shape an individual, as well as a nation. Who we are in our personal lives will reflect who we are as a nation. In July 1776, during what many have called "one of the greatest historical events of all time," the Continental Congress of the United States of America officially declared indepen-dence, and its reputation as a great country was born. Despite the beliefs of some, early Americans were not all renegades and rebels. For decades the Colonists tried to cooperate with the King, but, as time passed, it became evident that change was necessary. Great Britain needed to relinquish her oppressive control. Although controversy surrounds the biblical justification for the American Revolution, the Founders did not initiate the conflict, and thus, believed that they had biblical justification for their actions. The Founders viewed the Revolution as a defensive conflict rather than an offensive war. After peaceful and legal redress had been exhausted, they moved toward independence from the King and dependence on God. Although the history of America is marked with disappointments, tragedies, mistakes, and failures, my intent is not to write about the history of America, but to unapologetically proclaim the truth behind her success. As the moral and cultural war rages between our shores, the need to be awakened from our spiritual slumber has never been greater. "Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is tested" (Martin Luther). This battle is for the very soul of our nation. It's our choice-stand or fall. Shane Idleman

Book Description
Inscribed near a broken chain at the base of the Statue of Liberty are these words: Give me your tired, your poor; Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free; The wretched refuse of your teeming shore; Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me; I lift my lamp beside the golden door! Lady Liberty proclaims freedom every day to anyone with a heart to hear her. Yet, although the opportunity to experience the benefits of legal freedom exists in our nation, many people still live in bondage to a number of injustices. In One Nation Under God, Dr. Evans addresses freedom, justice, economics, racism, education and politics from a kingdom perspective. Citizens will be moved to display biblical justice, thus working to build a society based on the foundational principles of God’s word. If God's people are to reverse the course that this nation is heading down, believers must care about what God cares about, and implement specific strategies to change this nation. This booklet is a part of the Life Under God series, a 5-book series adapted from the 5 sections found in The Kingdom Agenda, the legacy work of Dr. Tony Evans. This booklet is based on the “One Nation under God” section.

Book Description
The provocative and authoritative history of the origins of Christian America in the New Deal era We're often told that the United States is, was, and always has been a Christian nation. But in One Nation Under God, historian Kevin M. Kruse reveals that the belief that America is fundamentally and formally Christian originated in the 1930s. To fight the "slavery" of FDR's New Deal, businessmen enlisted religious activists in a campaign for "freedom under God" that culminated in the election of their ally Dwight Eisenhower in 1952. The new president revolutionized the role of religion in American politics. He inaugurated new traditions like the National Prayer Breakfast, as Congress added the phrase "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance and made "In God We Trust" the country's first official motto. Church membership soon soared to an all-time high of 69 percent. Americans across the religious and political spectrum agreed that their country was "one nation under God." Provocative and authoritative, One Nation Under God reveals how an unholy alliance of money, religion, and politics created a false origin story that continues to define and divide American politics to this day.

One Nation without God?

One Nation without God? PDF Author: David Aikman

Book Description
Christianity in America is under siege. From litigation over coaches starting games with prayer to expulsion from college for refusing to endorse beliefs at odds with the Christian faith, hardly a week goes by without news of the declining influence that Christianity has in the public square. Can Christianity in this country survive the advances of secularists and remain influential in our culture? And if a new spiritual awakening is possible, what form will it take? Supported by an astonishing parade of concrete examples and direct quotes from reporters, judges, bloggers, and influencers, David Aikman turns his journalist's eye on the rise of hostility toward Christian expression in America and the alarming decline of orthodox belief among those who call themselves Christians. He explores the inspiring history of Christianity in America, the powerful cultural influences that have weakened the church, and the bright spots of hope he sees across the country, suggesting possible ways Christian influence in America might be refined and revived. Pastors, culture-watchers, and anyone concerned about the state of the church in America will find this a fascinating and eye-opening read.

One Nation Under God PDF Author: Leon G Stevens

ISBN: 1614488096
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 205

Book Description
One Nation Under God follows the spiritual direction of our country from the time the Puritans landed in the new world up to today. Our loss of faith in God and how that loss has impacted our society is profiled. It includes quotes from some of the people that had the most influence on the growth of our once great nation and some of the people and events that have caused our nation to decline economically, socially, and morally. One Nation Under God includes many landmark court cases that have affected our way of life in the way the American people can worship the Lord in public and in private. One Nation Under God is a map of our rise to greatness and our decline to the potential oblivion of this once "light on the hill" for all the world to follow. It also is a guide on how to reclaim our greatness by turning back to God for His forgiveness and guidance. The farther away we move from God the worse our society becomes. One Nation Under God sets out to prove to the country---possibly the world---that we are a Christian nation.

Book Description
How can YOU help bring hope to our nation? At a time when it seems that our nation is toppling over—morally, culturally, economically, and politically—you may be asking this question: Is there any hope for America? Dr. Tony Evans says YES. In America: Turning a Nation to God, Dr. Evans helps Christians understand that at the core, America's problems are spiritual. And, God and His rule are America's only hope. As His people, God is calling us to return to Him in humility and repentance, to submit to His rule and authority. Only as we commit to doing so, individually and collectively, will we realize that hope. We hold within the collective body of Christ not only the power but also the capacity to put our country back on the path of ascendancy. This straight-forward teaching, when embraced by believers in our nation, will usher in the greatest revival in American history.

Let the Nations be Glad

Let the Nations be Glad PDF Author: John Piper
Publisher: Inter-Varsity Press
ISBN: 1789740606
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 370

Book Description
'Mission is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exist because worship doesn't. Worship is ultimate.' John Piper's contemporary classic draws on key biblical texts to demonstrate that worship is the ultimate goal of the church and that proper worship fuels missionary outreach. Piper offers a biblical defence of God's supremacy in all things, providing a sound theological foundation for missions. He examines whether Jesus is the only way to salvation and issues a passionate plea for God-centredness in the missionary enterprise, seeking to define the scope of the task and the means for reaching 'all nations'. Let the Nations Be Glad! is a trusted resource for missionaries, pastors, church leaders, youth workers, seminary students, and all who want to connect their labours to God's global purposes. This third edition has been revised and expanded throughout and includes new material on the 'prosperity gospel'.
