Book Description
The method of relating the solution of a flow field to the solution of a simpler or known boundary-value problem is extended, subject to edge corrections for finite plan forms, to the most general type of prescribed boundary conditions on a wing in the linearized potential field at subsonic and supersonic speeds. The general procedure for determining edge corrections is given specific "correspondence formulas" are developed for rectangular wings at subsonic and supersonic speeds for cases that do not require the solution of an integral equation.

Theoretical Pressure Distributions on Wings of Finite Span at Zero Incidence for Mach Numbers Near 1

Theoretical Pressure Distributions on Wings of Finite Span at Zero Incidence for Mach Numbers Near 1 PDF Author: Alberta Y. Alksne
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Aerodynamics, Transonic
Languages : en
Pages : 58

Book Description
A method employed heretofore by the authors to obtain approximate solutions of the transonic flow equation for plane and axisymmetric flow is extended to give reasonable results for wings of finite span, consistent with the known properties of transonic flows. In this method the partial differential equation appropriate to the study of transonic flow is replaced by a nonlinear ordinary differential equation which can be solved by numerical methods. Asymptotic forms of this differential equation are given for very high and very low aspect ratios and analytic results are obtained for certain special cases. Numerical results, calculated by use of electronic computing machines, are given in the form of pressure distribution and pressure drag for two profile shapes, wedge and circular arc, for wings of rectangular plan form. The range of aspect ratios covered extends effectively from zero to infinity and agreement with the asymptotic results is shown at both limits.

On Wings of Moonlight

On Wings of Moonlight PDF Author: Barbara Ellen Galli
Publisher: McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP
ISBN: 0773576614
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 240

Book Description
On Wings of Moonlight - a phrase taken from one of the poems - illuminates the poetic and philosophic kinship between Wolfson, Franz Rosenzweig, one of his influences since graduate school, and Paul Celan. Displaying a deep knowledge of the literary, philosophical, Jewish, and feminist traditions informing Wolfson's academic work, Galli argues that his prose cannot be fully appreciated without consideration of its poetic dimensions.

Book Description
“Masterful and left me on the edge of my seat…absolutely everything I could want in a sci-fi.” —Adalyn Grace, New York Times bestselling author of All the Stars and Teeth Westworld meets Warcross in this high-stakes, dizzyingly smart sci-fi about a teen girl navigating an afterlife in which she must defeat an AI entity intent on destroying humanity, from award-winning author Akemi Dawn Bowman. Eighteen-year-old Nami Miyamoto is certain her life is just beginning. She has a great family, just graduated high school, and is on her way to a party where her entire class is waiting for her—including, most importantly, the boy she’s been in love with for years. The only problem? She’s murdered before she gets there. When Nami wakes up, she learns she’s in a place called Infinity, where human consciousness goes when physical bodies die. She quickly discovers that Ophelia, a virtual assistant widely used by humans on Earth, has taken over the afterlife and is now posing as a queen, forcing humans into servitude the way she’d been forced to serve in the real world. Even worse, Ophelia is inching closer and closer to accomplishing her grand plans of eradicating human existence once and for all. As Nami works with a team of rebels to bring down Ophelia and save the humans under her imprisonment, she is forced to reckon with her past, her future, and what it is that truly makes us human. From award-winning author Akemi Dawn Bowman comes an incisive, action-packed tale that explores big questions about technology, grief, love, and humanity.
