On Turbulent Free Mixing of Parallel Streams of Two Different Gases

On Turbulent Free Mixing of Parallel Streams of Two Different Gases PDF Author: Shigeo Uchida
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Differential equations
Languages : en
Pages : 1

Book Description
A theoretical investigation of the turbulent mixing of two different nonreacting gases is presented. Four different equations for predicting the mixing are derived by considering combinations of two different formulations of the turbulent transport currents of mass, momentum and energy, and two different formulations of the eddy kinematic viscosity coefficient in compressible flow. All equations can be solved numerically to yield similar type solutions. The results of a numerical calculation comparing the solutions given by the four equations is presented. (Author).

Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Nuclear energy
Languages : en
Pages : 1008

Book Description
NSA is a comprehensive collection of international nuclear science and technology literature for the period 1948 through 1976, pre-dating the prestigious INIS database, which began in 1970. NSA existed as a printed product (Volumes 1-33) initially, created by DOE's predecessor, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). NSA includes citations to scientific and technical reports from the AEC, the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration and its contractors, plus other agencies and international organizations, universities, and industrial and research organizations. References to books, conference proceedings, papers, patents, dissertations, engineering drawings, and journal articles from worldwide sources are also included. Abstracts and full text are provided if available.

A Literature Review on Subsonic Free Turbulent Shear Flow

A Literature Review on Subsonic Free Turbulent Shear Flow PDF Author: R. M. Halleen
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Jets
Languages : en
Pages : 112

Book Description
Solutions, for both two-dimensional flow and threedimensional axially symmetric flow, are reviewed for the three major free turbulent shear flow topics: the turbulent shear layer, the turbulent wake, and the turbulent jet. Several models for the turbulent shear stress were used in some of these solutions. The solutions are compiled in consistent nomenclature and compared. For each of the three topics, the defining partial differential equations for the particular turbulent shear stress models and geometric conditions are given, followed by the transformation of the variables utilized in obtaining a solvable differential equation. Finally, the solution is presented. Experimental mean velocity profile data for each condition are correlated and reduced to a single curve using the least squares curve fitting technique. A table of coordinates for each curve is given, including the standard deviation from the mean. Other experimental information is also tabulated. (Author).

IUTAM Symposium on Variable Density Low-Speed Turbulent Flows

IUTAM Symposium on Variable Density Low-Speed Turbulent Flows PDF Author: Louis Fulachier
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401154740
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 372

Book Description
The General Assembly of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in its meeting on August 28, 1994, selected for 1996 only four Mechanics Symposia, of which ours is the only one related to Fluid Mechanics: Variable Density Low Speed Turbulent Flows. This IUTAM Symposium, organized by the Institut de Recherche sur les Phenomenes Hors Equilibre (Marseille), is the logical continuation of the meetings previously organized or co-organized - on the French or European level, such as Euromech 237, Marseille, 1988 - by the same research group ofMarseille. This meeting focused specifically on the structure of turbulent flows in which density varies strongly : the effect of this variation on the velocity and scalar fields is in no sense negligible. We were mainly concerned with low-speed flows subjected to strong local changes of density as a consequence of heat or mass transfer or of chemical reactions. Compressible turbulent flows - such a!" supersonic ones - were also considered in order to underline their similarities to and their differences from low-speed variable density flows.
