SHOCK IMPINGEMENT ON A CONSTRICTION.

SHOCK IMPINGEMENT ON A CONSTRICTION. PDF Author: SOLOMON. CIOLKOWSKI
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 1

Book Description
A study is presented of an ideal gas shock impinging on a wall. The flow produced by a shock moving in a tube with a constriction is analyzed. The analysis is then applied to the solution of the shock impingement on a constriction. The state of the gas produced by the interaction of a shock with a constriction is determined for the case where the shock is reflected. Contraction ratios are determined so that the shock is reflected. The interaction of a shock with an interface is studied and conditions are determined so that a reflected shock is not produced. In the last section methods are proposed which can be used to analyze the above situations for real gases in thermodynamic equilibrium. (Author).

Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions

Shock Wave-Boundary-Layer Interactions PDF Author: Holger Babinsky
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139498649
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 481

Book Description
Shock wave-boundary-layer interaction (SBLI) is a fundamental phenomenon in gas dynamics that is observed in many practical situations, ranging from transonic aircraft wings to hypersonic vehicles and engines. SBLIs have the potential to pose serious problems in a flowfield; hence they often prove to be a critical - or even design limiting - issue for many aerospace applications. This is the first book devoted solely to a comprehensive, state-of-the-art explanation of this phenomenon. It includes a description of the basic fluid mechanics of SBLIs plus contributions from leading international experts who share their insight into their physics and the impact they have in practical flow situations. This book is for practitioners and graduate students in aerodynamics who wish to familiarize themselves with all aspects of SBLI flows. It is a valuable resource for specialists because it compiles experimental, computational and theoretical knowledge in one place.

Shock Wave Interactions

Shock Wave Interactions PDF Author: Konstantinos Kontis
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319731807
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 408

Book Description
This edited monograph contains the proceedings of the International Shock Interaction Symposium, which emerged as an heir to both the Mach Reflection and Shock Vortex Interaction Symposia. These scientific biannual meetings provide an ideal platform to expose new developments and discuss recent challenges in the field of shock wave interaction phenomena. The goal of the symposia is to offer a forum for international interaction between young and established scientists in the field of shock and blast wave interaction phenomena. The target audience of this book comprises primarily researchers and experts in the field of shock waves, but the book may also be beneficial for young scientists and graduate students alike.

High-Pressure Shock Compression of Solids VII

High-Pressure Shock Compression of Solids VII PDF Author: Vladimir E. Fortov
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9781475740493
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 534

Book Description
Presenting some of the most recent results of Russian research into shock compression, as well as historical overviews of the Russian research programs into shock compression, this volume will provide Western researchers with many novel ideas and points of view. The chapters in this volume are written by leading Russian specialists various fields of high-pressure physics and form accounts of the main researches on the behavior of matter under shock-wave interaction. The experimental portions contain results of studies of shock compression of metals to high and ultra-high pressure, shock initiation of polymorphic transformations, strength, fracture and fragmentation under shock compression, and detonation of condensed explosives. There are also chapters on theoretical investigations of shock-wave compression and plasma states in regimes of high-pressure and high- temperature. The topics of the book are of interest to scientists and engineers concerned with questions of material behavior under impulsive loading and to the equation of state of matter. Application is to questions of high-speed impact, inner composition of planets, verification of model representations of material behavior under extreme 1oading conditions, syntheses of new materials, development of new technologies for material processing, etc. Russian research differs from much of the Western work in that it has traditionally been wider-ranging and more directed to extremes of response than to precise characterization of specific materials and effects. Western scientists could expect to benefit from the perspective gained from close knowledge of the Russian work.
