It then decreases and continues in the same general pattern. The vertical salinity envelopes are presented in figures 22 - 30. As shown in figure 22, the surface salinity during October 1966 ranged from to with the halocline situ ated between 100 and 300 meters. Below this level there was an inversion extending down to about 600 meters of about meters. Below the inversion the gradual increase in salinity with depth continued.
