Contexte. En France, une pénurie d'offre de soins de premier recours s'annonce. Le nombre de médecins en activité diminue et leur répartition sur le territoire est inégale. La population médicale connaît des évolutions sociologiques. L'observation des jeunes médecins généralistes est essentielle pour saisir les évolutions et leurs conséquences afin d'y adapter le système de soins. Objectif. Il s'agit de dresser le profil des jeunes médecins généralistes de Champagne-Ardenne, d'étudier l'évolution de leur activité professionnelle et d'en identifier les facteurs influençant. Méthode. Étude quantitative descriptive par suivi de cohorte auprès de la promotion d’internes en médecine générale ayant débuté leur TCEM à la faculté de médecine de Reims en novembre 2008. Trois questionnaires, un initial et deux de suivi leur ont été adressés en novembre 2011, 2012 et 2013. Résultats. Le taux de réponse était de 73%. Les femmes étaient majoritaires (68%). Entre 2011 et 2013, le pourcentage de propriétaires est passé de 26,3% à 60,5%, celui de répondants avec enfant est passé de 21% à 44,7 %. Deux ans après la fin de l'internat, 52,6% des répondants n'avaient pas soutenu leur thèse. Les remplaçants étaient 68,5% en 2013. L'activité professionnelle était stable entre 2011 et 2013. L'activité mixte était envisagée par 26,5% d'entre eux, 42% envisageaient l'installation. Les répondants étaient fidèles à la Champagne-Ardenne (84,2%). Des inégalités entre départements étaient observées. Le milieu semi-rural (59%) était plébiscité comme territoire d'exercice envisagé. Les freins perçus à l'installation étaient principalement les charges administratives (92%), comptables (76%) et de gestion du cabinet (87%). Conclusion. Le suivi de cohorte a mis en évidence une période de latence professionnelle, tournée vers la vie privée. Toutefois les jeunes médecins généralistes mûrissent leurs projets professionnels. Il convient d'étudier le déclic qu'ils attendent pour les concrétiser.
