The North Carolina State University Alumni/Student Collection was created in 1996 to centralize future material relating to activities of University students. It is intended for this collection to have the value of a representative sample of these activities. In addition, it is designed to focus on future acquisitions, so no attempt was made to reorganize similar existing collections into the Alumni/Student Collection. Currently, the collection contains: 1) Alumni recollections of Walter J. Mathews, alumnus of the first graduating class at North Carolina State University (1 June 1966); Robert Hall Morrison, II, class of 1900; William Leon Parks, who attended North Carolina State University from 1897 to 1899; Ben O. Hood, class of 1901; E.B. Owen, class of 1898; S.H. Clarke, class of 1906; R.K. Babington, class of 1910; J. Eliot Coit, class of 1903; Peter Valaer, Jr., class of 1906; Frank O. Hartshorn student in 1910-1911; Fred Allen Baker, class of 1916; Larry Alston Whitford, class of 1925; Paul M. Cox, class of 1936; James A. King, Class of 1955; Perry Woods, class of 1985; Fred Logan; Margaret Park Lucas, M.E. 1982; William Franklin Lane, class of 1959; and Walter D. Sharp, class of 1940. 2) Papers of Roy R. Bennett titled "A Study of the Tobacco Demonstration and Field Test Program in North Carolina." 3) Photographs and information about Emmett U. Dillard, mayor of Trailwood. 4) Papers and memorabilia of Ben Lemlich including a program of "The Interfraternity Council of N.C. State College presents The Final Dances" for 1941 and 1942 and several other dance invitations and news clippings. 4) Papers and memorabilia of Bernice Umstead Rose including news clippings and programs. 5) Park plans of Charles C. Stott, B.S. in Education at North Carolina State University (1937) 6) Papers and memorabilia of John Wall including "The N.C.
