Nonlinear Control and Filtering Using Differential Flatness Approaches

Nonlinear Control and Filtering Using Differential Flatness Approaches PDF Author: Gerasimos G. Rigatos
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319164201
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 755

Book Description
This monograph presents recent advances in differential flatness theory and analyzes its use for nonlinear control and estimation. It shows how differential flatness theory can provide solutions to complicated control problems, such as those appearing in highly nonlinear multivariable systems and distributed-parameter systems. Furthermore, it shows that differential flatness theory makes it possible to perform filtering and state estimation for a wide class of nonlinear dynamical systems and provides several descriptive test cases. The book focuses on the design of nonlinear adaptive controllers and nonlinear filters, using exact linearization based on differential flatness theory. The adaptive controllers obtained can be applied to a wide class of nonlinear systems with unknown dynamics, and assure reliable functioning of the control loop under uncertainty and varying operating conditions. The filters obtained outperform other nonlinear filters in terms of accuracy of estimation and computation speed. The book presents a series of application examples to confirm the efficiency of the proposed nonlinear filtering and adaptive control schemes for various electromechanical systems. These include: · industrial robots; · mobile robots and autonomous vehicles; · electric power generation; · electric motors and actuators; · power electronics; · internal combustion engines; · distributed-parameter systems; and · communication systems. Differential Flatness Approaches to Nonlinear Control and Filtering will be a useful reference for academic researchers studying advanced problems in nonlinear control and nonlinear dynamics, and for engineers working on control applications in electromechanical systems.

Control Of Imperfect Nonlinear Electromechanical Large Scale Systems: From Dynamics To Hardware Implementation

Control Of Imperfect Nonlinear Electromechanical Large Scale Systems: From Dynamics To Hardware Implementation PDF Author: Luigi Fortuna
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9813227257
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 147

Book Description
This book focuses on a class of uncertain systems that are called imperfect, and shows how much systems can regularly work if an appropriate control strategy is adopted. Along with some practical well studied examples, a formalization of the models for imperfect system is considered and a control strategy is proposed. Experimental case studies on electromechanical systems are also included.New concepts, experimental innovative circuits and laboratory details allow the reader to implement at low cost the outlined strategy. Emergent topics in nonlinear device realization are emphasized with the aim to allow researchers and students to perform experiments with large scale electromechanical systems. Moreover, the possibility of using imperfections and noise to generate nonlinear strange behavior is discussed.

Nonlinear Electromechanical Effects and Applications

Nonlinear Electromechanical Effects and Applications PDF Author: G A Maugin
Publisher: World Scientific Publishing Company
ISBN: 9813104007
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 184

Book Description
The book develops a cross-disciplinary approach to the phenomenon of linear and nonlinear wave propagation in piezoelectric crystals. Based on the rigorous presentation of nonlinear continuum mechanics and electromechanical interactions in anisotropic bodies, the work starts from primary principles, is progressive and develops the subject matter by means of worked out examples up to the most recent applications in signal processing, introducing the most efficient methods of applied mathematics. The attention is especially focused on phenomena such as the formation of shocks, the generation harmonics, the anisochronism of resonators, nonlinear surface waves, the convolution of signals by means of surface-wave guides, the nonlinear couling between the crystal and deformations, the compensation between dispersion and nonlinearity. The work should be of pedagogical and practical interest to graduate students and research workers in various fields of applied science and engineering. Request Inspection Copy

Nonlinear Mechanics of Thin-Walled Structures

Nonlinear Mechanics of Thin-Walled Structures PDF Author: Yury Vetyukov
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3709117771
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 280

Book Description
This book presents a hybrid approach to the mechanics of thin bodies. Classical theories of rods, plates and shells with constrained shear are based on asymptotic splitting of the equations and boundary conditions of three-dimensional elasticity. The asymptotic solutions become accurate as the thickness decreases, and the three-dimensional fields of stresses and displacements can be determined. The analysis includes practically important effects of electromechanical coupling and material inhomogeneity. The extension to the geometrically nonlinear range uses the direct approach based on the principle of virtual work. Vibrations and buckling of pre-stressed structures are studied with the help of linearized incremental formulations, and direct tensor calculus rounds out the list of analytical techniques used throughout the book. A novel theory of thin-walled rods of open profile is subsequently developed from the models of rods and shells, and traditionally applied equations are proven to be asymptotically exact. The influence of pre-stresses on the torsional stiffness is shown to be crucial for buckling analysis. Novel finite element schemes for classical rod and shell structures are presented with a comprehensive discussion regarding the theoretical basis, computational aspects and implementation details. Analytical conclusions and closed-form solutions of particular problems are validated against numerical results. The majority of the simulations were performed in the Wolfram Mathematica environment, and the compact source code is provided as a substantial and integral part of the book.
