Book Description
The World has been changing...and fast...since the 1990's as cell phones, computers, and the worldwide Web brought communication/information to anyone, anywhere, anytime. In adapting to these changes, the world had become more transparent...and what it discovered was that Europe, America, and other English speaking countries were living the "good life" with an abundance of food, housing, clothing, education, medical access, public safety, transportation and communication choices, and leisure time while some three billion people were living on less than three dollars a day. Three dollars a day for these three billion people meant living in squalor from over-crowed shelters to cardboard boxes; from soup kitchens to rifling garbage bins; from unsuitable, ill-fitting clothes to being mostly naked; from limited access to no access for education, medicine, safety, transportation, or communication. Since most of this group lived in polluted environments, we may refer to them as living a shitty life. Then on September 11, 2001, a group of that claimed to represent the outcasts of society and their view of the world -wide injustices threw a monkey wrench into the white-gloved tea-time world with the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York City... The only problem was that this wake-up call came too late for both the haves and have not's.

Book Description
The world of Noah consisted of men and women who called good evil and evil good. Sinful lifestyles and practices dominated the world. But "Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord." Everyone knows God called Noah to build an Ark, but how did he build it? Who helped him? Why did it take 120 years? What did it look like? Would it float? This is the story of Noah and the Ark. Not only does it look deeper than the Biblical account, there is a special section at the end where pertinent questions about the 'Ark' and 'The World That Was' are answered in plain language. The book brings to life the men and women involved in this tremendous project and provides a look into some of the latest scientific understandings about the Ark itself.

The Lost World of the Flood

The Lost World of the Flood PDF Author: Tremper Longman III
Publisher: InterVarsity Press
ISBN: 0830887822
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 209

Book Description
"The flood continued forty days on the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth . . . and the ark floated on the face of the waters" (Gen 6:17-18 NRSV). In modern times the Genesis flood account has been probed and analyzed for answers to scientific, apologetic, and historical questions. It is a text that has called forth "flood geology," fueled searches for remnants of the ark on Mount Ararat, and inspired a full-size replica of Noah's ark in a theme park. Some claim that the very veracity of Scripture hinges on a particular reading of the flood narrative. But do we understand what we are reading? Longman and Walton urge us to ask what the biblical author might have been saying to his ancient audience. Our quest to rediscover the biblical flood requires that we set aside our own cultural and interpretive assumptions and visit the distant world of the ancient Near East. Responsible interpretation calls for the patient examination of the text within its ancient context of language, literature, and thought. And as we return from that lost world to our own, we will need to ask whether geological science supports the notion of flood geology. To read Longman and Walton is to put our feet on firmer interpretive ground. Without attempting to answer all of our questions, they lift the fog of modernity and allow the sunlight to reveal the true contours of the text. As with other books in the Lost World series, The Lost World of the Flood is an informative and enlightening journey toward a more responsible reading of a timeless biblical narrative. The books in the Lost World Series follow the pattern set by Bible scholar John H. Walton, bringing a fresh, close reading of the Hebrew text and knowledge of ancient Near Eastern literature to an accessible discussion of the biblical topic at hand using a series of logic-based propositions.

Book Description
It is the year 2022 and our planet's climate is the worst in recorded climatological history. Greenhouse gases have already caused and continue to cause disasters that are destroying our earth. Something needs urgently to be done to stop the destructive downward spiral that humanity had created by abusing the planet for centuries. Bill Just, a world-renowned philanthropic tycoon, is the co-founder of a new nonprofit organization developed to wage war against greenhouse gases. Together with his partner Walt Beaufort and the organization's scientists, he develops six radical plans to be implemented consecutively, hopefully ensuring the eradication of the gases from our troposphere. The plans slowly unfold but fail. Now, all that remained for the organization's personnel was to devise a new Noah's Ark, Noah's Ark II, to save at least some fugitives from the destruction and eventually start from this nucleus a new humanity after the passing of the destruction.
