The Analysis of Variance

The Analysis of Variance PDF Author: Hardeo Sahai
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461213444
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 766

Book Description
The analysis of variance (ANOYA) models have become one of the most widely used tools of modern statistics for analyzing multifactor data. The ANOYA models provide versatile statistical tools for studying the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. The ANOYA mod els are employed to determine whether different variables interact and which factors or factor combinations are most important. They are appealing because they provide a conceptually simple technique for investigating statistical rela tionships among different independent variables known as factors. Currently there are several texts and monographs available on the sub ject. However, some of them such as those of Scheffe (1959) and Fisher and McDonald (1978), are written for mathematically advanced readers, requiring a good background in calculus, matrix algebra, and statistical theory; whereas others such as Guenther (1964), Huitson (1971), and Dunn and Clark (1987), although they assume only a background in elementary algebra and statistics, treat the subject somewhat scantily and provide only a superficial discussion of the random and mixed effects analysis of variance.

Applied Life Data Analysis

Applied Life Data Analysis PDF Author: Wayne B. Nelson
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0471725226
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 656

Book Description
WILEY-INTERSCIENCE PAPERBACK SERIES The Wiley-Interscience Paperback Series consists of selected books that have been made more accessible to consumers in an effort to increase global appeal and general circulation. With these new unabridged softcover volumes, Wiley hopes to extend the lives of these works by making them available to future generations of statisticians, mathematicians, and scientists. "Many examples drawn from the author’s experience of engineering applications are used to illustrate the theoretical results, which are presented in a cookbook fashion...it provides an excellent practical guide to the analysis of product-life data." –T.M.M. Farley Special Programme of Research in Human Reproduction World Health Organization Geneva, Switzerland Review in Biometrics, September 1983 Now a classic, Applied Life Data Analysis has been widely used by thousands of engineers and industrial statisticians to obtain information from life data on consumer, industrial, and military products. Organized to serve practitioners, this book starts with basic models and simple informative probability plots of life data. Then it progresses through advanced analytical methods, including maximum likelihood fitting of advanced models to life data. All data analysis methods are illustrated with numerous clients' applications from the author's consulting experience.

Lognormal Distributions

Lognormal Distributions PDF Author: Crow
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351434691
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 408

Book Description
Presenting the first comprehensive review of the subject's theory and applications inmore than 15 years, this outstanding reference encompasses the most-up-to-date advancesin lognormal distributions in thorough, detailed contributions by specialists in statistics, business and economics , industry, biology , ecology, geology, and meteorology.Lognormal Distributions describes the theory and methods of point and intervalestimation as well as the testing of hypotheses clearly and precisely from a modemviewpoint-not only for the basic two-parameter lognormal distribution but also for itsgeneralizations, including three parameters, truncated distributions, delta-lognormaldistributions, and two or more dimensions.Featuring over 600 references plus author and subject indexes, this volume rev iews thesubject's history .. . gives explicit formulas for minimum variance unbiased estimates ofparameters and their variances ... provides optimal tests of hypotheses and confidenceinterval procedures for various functions of the parameters in the two-parameter model. .. and discusses practical methods of analysis for truncated, censored, or groupedsamples.
